We have stayed in hundreds of places around the world and this is one of the few we were sad to leave.

There’s a lot to like in Greenhouse Retreat. The room, bed and shower room were very good. The view from the balcony was stunning. The pool was large and well maintained. The grounds were well tended and watered. The food was like home made. The staff were charming and eager to please.
There were moments and instances of eccentricity, idiosyncraticity and inconsistency, all minor by themselves, but they add up. For example, the lock on our room was broken but they seemed unable to fix it; the maids changed the towels (unnecessary) but did not empty the bin next to the toilet (essential); the placement and design of kitchen and dining room meant that every order had to be carried up very steep stairs; other stairs in the resort were very narrow and steep.
Most importantly, the hotel seems unable to book or engage long-distance taxi/minibus services that can provide the safety and comfort overseas visitors and tourists are used to. Putting ten people into a people mover designed for seven or eight, and then filling the space left with items for delivery, AND strapping a motorbike onto the back, does not reassure passengers that their needs are being considered.

A bit outside. You need a bike or tulktulk.
Room is ok but if the room next door make any sound you hear it...

The young girls working there were ever so sweet. we communicated mostly on google translate which was fine for us. Kanha especially was super helpful - I’m impressed she’s running the place for her age! She very helpfully made us a packed tasty breakfast pancakes both mornings for our early starts, communicated with a tuk tuk driver for us and fixed our aircon.
the rooms are pretty tired and the whole place felt like a ghost village. cleanliness passable - the red Mondulkiri dust stained the sheets, a HUGE spider was living in my pillow case, and the mozzy net smelled musty. the location is a shame as it’s 10 minutes’ tuk tuk to the main town (which you will want to go to for food, shops, bus terminal, tour pick ups). In its hay day it looks like everything you could need was provided on site, but not sure that’s the case anymore.
