The accommodation offered unbeatable value for money. Initially unsure about booking a safari, we were relieved that it wasn't mandatory. The family was exceptionally friendly. I admired the architectural style of the accommodation, and the room was very spacious. We had a cozy stay.
The accommodation lacks protection from insects due to its surroundings. We had dinner, and it seemed like we received leftovers from another group, as the food, apart from the rice, was cold.

Excellent safari and day tour to explore the area. Recommend to do it..
Cooking class was new experience for us and had yummy Sri Lankan style dinner here..

Not much to do close by. A bit away from both the city and the national park.
The breakfast was medium compared to the dinner. Could be more fresh / fruit, less bread and sugar :)

we’re travelling around Sri Lanka and in this family guesthouse we found a piece of paradise!
Rooms are amazing and really comfortable, the atmosphere is breathtaking! It’s surrounded by nature and thanks the kindness of the hosts you feel like home after one night! We had dinner there and in the meantime they arranged our safari for the day after.. when we came back there was a super breakfast ready for us!
I really recommend to visit this place also just only to eat authentic tasty food! the best Dahl of ever!

we liked everything about this property. The hotel is run by a really nice family. They contacted us to prepare everything before our stay: call a taxi to go, prepare dinner and arrange the safari.
Our room was clean, spacious and totally worth it. The food was simply amazing. We had dinner, breakfast and lunch there where we could taste the best local food we had in Sri Lanka.
Also, our stay in Sandalwood was during Sri Lankan new year. They prepared for us the typical breakfast and lunch for that day and we could meet the family. It was an incredible experience because all of them were really nice and we felt like home.
Finally, they could find us a taxi to go to our next stop (what was not easy because it was public holiday and there were almost no taxis).

Truly beautiful place. The cottages are as close to nature as your comfort allows it. Perfectly clean, designed with taste and originality, delicious homemade food. Hosts are the most friendly, communicative and helpful people. Thank you!
