A beautiful stay in the castello
The room we stayed in was lovely. It was split across 2 floors and in one of the oldest parts of the castle. The staff were all very thoughtful and showed their personalities. The food was excellent, both for Breakfast and for dinner.

it was magical.
It was a stunning property, restored with an incredible attention to detail, with all the modern comforts while still preserving the original aesthetic. Our room was palatial and super luxurious. the staff was exceptional, helping with every request no matter how difficult. Special thanks for Roberta who made our stay perfect.
Nothing. Just our air conditioned was not working which was a bit frustrating.

Beautiful location, attentive staff, delicious food, comfortable rooms
When I arrived, the concierge welcomed me with fresh water (they make their own water onsite!) and explained how this castle is known for its incredible kitchens! So I immediately asked to organize a tour of the property which we did the following day and I was certainly not disappointed. The kitchens are out of this world. No wonder they are known not just for their beautiful property, but also for their cooking classes. And their restaurant, il Tempo Nuovo, a culinary heaven. Out of this world. Can't wait to be back!
The signage and street parking. I think they could do something about that. Maybe not something they have much control over, but it doesn't reflect the quality that i then found once i walked through the castle's gates. And for the signage, not enough street signs to indicate how to get there.

Very disappointing
Beautifully restored castello Mostly very good breakfast and food Seeing the sights of Puglia
The “Superior Double room” we booked was anything but - a narrow, dark split level room with a windowless bathroom. The booking.com and hotel websites were inconsistent in description of rooms, and we were very disappointed with what we saw after a long flight from Asia. The staff member on duty could only find us an alternative room at the sister hotel Masseria de Mandorle. That room was fantastic but it meant we missed the experience of staying at the castello, and had to drive back and forth twice a day for breakfast and dinner, on the extremely poor roads of Ugento. Castello Di Ugento is famed for its food. The restaurant serves Michelin-style dinners in a beautiful courtyard every evening. Food was mostly excellent but on our third night the kitchen was struggling and courses took a very long time to prepare, so work needed here. The town itself is desolate and depressing. If you stay here be prepared to do a lot of driving to reach more pleasant spots - good beaches are at least half an hour away, most places one hour. The hotel touts itself as being full board but note that drinks are not included, though the hotel - cynically, in my view - does not make this clear. We were offered aperitifs, wine, coffee etc without it being explained that we would be charged for all of these on top, or what the prices of any of these items were. We were shocked to be landed with a large bill for drinks at check out. When we expressed this to the manager Roberta she kept agreeing with us but did nothing. I see that a previous reviewer had the same complaint one year ago. Strange “insider-outsider” vibe as some guests were apparently close friends of the owner and one felt as if one was intruding on a private party. Service was noticeably less attentive when the Boss was not around. Most of the staff we encountered are marketing people rather than hoteliers, and it shows. All show no go. The bottom line: at these prices one can stay in fabulous places run
