About this house rental

The Cottage at Miramar - Historic Beachfront Clubhouse 3 BEDROOMS | 2 BATHROOMS | 5 GUESTS Do you like the beach? Then look no further. This historic beach cottage is perched directly on the sand in Montecito’s exclusive Miramar neighborhood. A five minute walk down the beach leads you to the Rosewood Miramar resort offering spa treatments, beach services, and a Michelin-starred restaurant. A short drive lands you in downtown Santa Barbara for more award-winning dining and shopping options. This home dates back to the early 1900s and was originally a “day shack” for sun worshipping beach goers to take refuge on hot summer days. Enter on the upper level with a unique pitched ceiling and skylights with large bay windows centered on the ocean. The Living and Dining Rooms meld together anchored by an open Kitchen extended by a deck featuring glass railings for unobstructed views. The lower level rooms were designed to feel like the staterooms on a yacht. Please note that during certain seasons and weather patterns, there isn’t always a sandy beach directly in front of the home. However, a short walk will offer a sandy place to relax and kick off your shoes. **PROPERTY WAS UPDATED IN FEBRUARY OF 2022. The view and beach access is spectacular! Absolutely love the decor and charm of the cottage. The bedroom layout is a little wonky but we got it figured out. Also no electricity when we arrived and a wrong car gate entry code but we got it all worked out and after that all was excellent. The property management is very responsive and helpful. Overall a great experience and getaway weekend and would definitely return and recommend.

This cottage - just 900 sq ft - is definitely special, like a boat with a long history by Miramar beach But that’s it. The access to the beach is dangerous, an unstable path of slippery rocks, The house is old, and the location just above the waves makes it humid and noisy - make sure you enjoy the breaking waves under you The above is for granted but to add more the bulk bed had sand all over, the shower was leaking and would not hold, the grill did not start because of dirt in the ignite The maintenance guy - nice and able - came twice in 4 days; not a way to let vacationers rest

This house couldn't be in a better location! The beach is right there, and plenty of restaurants, etc. nearby. If I had to find a nit, it's the parking situation and the "longish" walk from the parking lot to the house. But it's well worth the walk!

This rental was a mixed experience for us. We stay in VRBO rentals 2-3 times a year and have bit of experience. The property manager was great. The house was very clean upon arrival. What we did not like was the condition of the house itself. For close to 9k per week we expect more. The carpets were dirty (spots & stains) and the furniture was also dirty (with spots and stains). This is stuff a weekly cleaning crew cannot clean. Perhaps a professional deep clean could solve, but in my experience, as a VRBO house, they need easily cleanable floors (not stained carpets), furniture that is cleanable and very much need a proper outside dining table and chairs. The pictures of the house on the VRBO site are either old or quite art directed in that it makes that place look a lot more put together than what we found. That said, my family of 4 had a great time. It is hard to find a better location. We would 100% come to this beach again. We would consider coming to this house again If the items mentioned above were addressed. If this was a 5k per week rental (714/night), I likely would not have written this review. I understand that you get what you pay for. But for 8.5k , I think the property is lacking and trading very high on its location.
