The house has some “false advertising” that other families should be aware of before booking: 1. It’s advertised as a pet-free home which is not true. This is evident by the picture of the family pet (dog) on the one end table. Additionally, it’s evident by the dogs hairs engrained in the carpet, bed spreads, and area rug in the living room. Unfortunately we have a family that is highly allergic to dogs and cats, thus we specifically looked for a house that is “pet free”. Our week was spent battling coughs and stuffy noses presumably because we learned the owners were at the house the weekend before. Presumably with the dog as two beds were not cleaned and the sheets were covered in black dog hairs upon our arrival. Gross. 2. Beach access: well, not exactly. Unless you’re in fairly good physical shape and able to make your way down a 15-foot eroded bank. While I understand there were some recent storms, we were also told most rental companies were making travelers aware of this with the homes in this area. Big miss, Outer Banks Blue. With our elderly parents, this would have been super helpful to add to the property details. If we wanted to drive to (easy) beach access, we would have picked a home on the sound side. We showed up to the home uncleaned. Note my comment about the black dog hairs in 2 of the beds’ sheets. Additionally, dirty towels were in the washer and bathrooms. Lastly, garbage was in the trash cans. We had 2 rolls of toilet paper (for a family of 10) and one roll of paper towels, no dish towels or soap. When I texted Outer Banks Blue at 5 p.m, I was quickly told they had until 6 p.m. to show up and clean despite our 4 p.m. check in time (and the fact that the house was not occupied for the days leading up to our arrival so ample time was had for cleaning)! For 2 nights, we took showers in 6” of water because drains were clogged. Maintenance showed up Monday. The pool area needs a good cleaning for the upcoming busy season. Overall the entire house needs a good cleaning unless you like crawling into bed with filthy feet from dirty floors. To end on a positive note, it’s a quiet street and a nice area for walks. The kitchen is well equipped. The house is conveniently located but unfortunately things started off on a really bad note. For the price we paid for this house, expectations were not met and if you’re on the fence, I’d encourage you to pick another Duck home for your vacation.

The place was awesome. Everything that we needed! We had a couple of minor maintenance on issues when we first arrived but they were handled immediately. We couldn't ask for anything more.

We had rescheduled our vacation and ended up staying in mid- September. The walk to the beach was just short enough, and the pool was good sized and fun. Kitchen is well stocked with cooking stuff. Definitely could use some updates as the dishwasher and stove were not in the best condition. Bedrooms were all clean, the layout was good, hot tub was in a weird spot but ok, pool was cleaned regularly. The only complaint would be the spiders. Maybe it was because it was the off season, but spider webs and spiders were everywhere in the sunroom and hot tub area, parts of the living room and kitchen and pool area. Overall a great experience, and a perfect little beach house within walking distance ( even for my disabled mother) for a good price! Thank you!

This property was the most stocked, clean house we have ever rented. If you needed it, it was available. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you needed, there was a great storage table in the family room stocked with puzzles and games, a storage shed with all your beach needs and then another storage bin full of floats and pool toys. The location was perfect, just a short ride to the restaurants and shops or up to Corolla to see the horses. We loved the view from the front deck, the sound was visible to the left and the ocean to the right. We will hopefully be back, this was one of the best spots!
