About this house rental

Welcome to the River Run house ! Take a step back in time with this completely original mid-century modern hidden gem. Spend your days in the pool listening to the relaxing river and hop into the hot tub at night as your friends and family BBQ on the deck :) We're centrally located to town/restaurants as well as a 15 minute drive from Sequoia Nat'l Park. The house is designed for a escape from the city and a peaceful oasis for the entire family. Our home is your home! When you come to visit we hope this feels like your home away from home. All Bedrooms have Casper mattresses, including the bunk beds, to accommodate a good nights rest. The couch can sleep 2 comfortably and there is a queen air mattress available as well. The living room is equipped with a record player that is also bluetooth compatible and attaches to an included portable Bose speaker, as well as a 65" smart TV. We have a pool in the backyard for those hot days! It's a deep pool and the shallow end drops off quickly so bring floaties for the kids. Please be careful with children, the pool has a cover that can be retracted prior to hopping in. The deck gets hot in the summer so sandals are recommended. We have a couple adult floats for the pool, please bring safety floats if you have children. Central Heating, A/C, free washer and dryer, pool and hot tub are private for your families use. We provide both a French Press and Keurig to give our guests options. Traditional breakfast not provided. We hope you enjoy your stay at the River Run house and we can't wait to host you!

They gave us the place with the dirty pool, and I could not enjoy it with my family, besides that I have a 4-year-old girl and the most important thing was the pool.

Nothing crazy bad happened with us at the house, but we were a little disappointed in a handful of things. The listing sells itself well, but the actual house is just a little meh. Here were our issues: - Both shower heads were very short, requiring me to bend down while showering (I'm 5'9") - The house has a very old feel in person, not cool retro, just older - Lighting not adequate at night in the living room, one wall sconce didn't work (we changed out the bulb, and it was the fixture that was broken), and there was only one lamp in the living room, leaving half of the room very dark. - Most of the pots/pans were not clean, so we had to wash them before use - There were 11 dead bugs on the carpet in the queen bed guest room - The record player sounded terrible and needs a new needle (my guess), so we couldn't enjoy that fun touch - The hot tub cover was in such bad shape it looked like it had been decomposing for years. The hot tub itself was not that deep, so it was hard for more than one adult to have much space in it at the same time. It was winter, so we didn't use the pool at all. - All the pillows were huge (there were a lot of them, just all very very thick, so there were no options for people who don't like massive pillows) - The owner never answered a question I sent over vrbo prior to our stay, and didn't send the house guide/check in information until a few hours before check in after I called them and left a message. - The patio string lights seemed hung randomly, with nothing plugged into power (or even close to any), so we couldn't use them We did enjoy the large TV, and the location. The house just didn't seem like anyone cared to put too much thought into making it a comfortable rental property. They took good photos, then just let it be. It was not at all a horrible rental experience, we all had a good time, but we all agreed that there were a lot of things the owners just seem to be neglecting.

I booked this house in July and paid in full. On 9/21 I had to cancel due to my parents joining us and we were two people over Adrian's limit. We asked Adrian if we could pay for 2 extra and he said no. The last day to cancel and adhere to his cancellation policy was 9/23. I sent Adrian a message and requested a change in my booking via VRBO. He confirmed that we were canceling and wished me good trip vibes. My mistake. At this time, I had the ability to cancel outright. I reached out to Adrian a week later to ask why my reservation was still active and why I hadn't received my refund. He just kept referring me to his cancellation policy. I was so confused because we had messages showing that I had canceled on 9/21. VRBO Customer service encouraged us to call Adrian directly and so we did. Adrian dodged every single one of the calls and would not talk with us directly. He specifically asked us not to call him and to refer to his cancellation policy once again. We finally realized that Adrian was not going to make this right. With the KNP Complex fire closing the park, he made it clear he needed his money and that canceling our reservation would affect his rating on VRBO. His only concession was that he would now allow 10 people, which he later took back. After many conversations with family, we agreed to not let Adrian ruin our Thanksgiving and all that mattered was that we were together. We arrived at the house on a Monday. The house is located in a cute neighborhood with views of the Southern Sierra Nevadas and a river running behind it. But upon our arrival, it was clear that this house was a pig with lipstick on. When we walked in, the carpet was filthy, with stains all over. The "authentic" mid-century modern kitchen appliances were just old and the dishwasher was broken. The pool was PAY to play (it does not mention this in the original listing), $400 to heat it for our four-day stay. The hot tub was low and SO dirty. There was sand and dirty foam when you turned on the jets. We were also approached by multiple neighbors asking us to let the owner know about the bears. We had spent the morning picking up the trash of the previous guests, so we were aware of the bears. The neighbors mentioned that the unlocked cans and these bears had been impacting the serenity of the neighborhood. It is clear that Adrian is an absentee owner and the pictures on this listing are misleading. Save yourself the trouble, and do not book this property.

We were so excited to visit Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon National Park. And so disappointed and sad when the fires started in mid-September. We kept a close eye on the fire and at a point realized that we would not be able to get into the park but were still looking forward to a couple of chill days in a cool mid-century modern home. As time got closer to our check-in date the air quality in Three Rivers went from good to unhealthy to hazardous (over 500 AQI). Additionally, an evacuation warning was added to the Three Rivers area. At this point, we realized that it would be hazardous to our health and potential safety to go. While the property had a 60-day cancellation window, we had hoped that the owner would work with us. We reached out to him to ask for a refund or a credit for a return trip in 2022. The owner responded that they would be “sticking to our original cancellation policy in the case of damages/unknown issues that may arise from the fires being so close to our home”. Since the owner was concerned about potentially losing his home, and the fact that conditions were unhealthy and unsafe, we decided not to stay and we let the owner know that we would make alternative plans and went on to Joshua Tree. The house looks amazing and we were sad that we could not visit. If you are looking at this home, make sure that your plans are set in stone and be aware of the non-negotiable cancellation policy.

We had an epic spring break, staying at this mid-century designed home in Three Rivers. The home was super comfy, spacious and clean. The backyard has the pool and hot tub which the kids lived in all afternoon after our long hikes in the Sequoias. The back opens up to the creek, which is incredible to both fall asleep and wake to its sounds. The neighborhood, which we explored on our evening walks has wild turkeys roaming, turkey vultures flying above, along with blue jays squawking, the mellowest, happiest cats lounging, squirrels and other critters frolicking, it was a fairytale. At night we all sunk into a big U shaped couch to watch a movie on the big screen t.v. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept solidly. All of this minutes away from the Nat'l park entrance where the Sequoias will also garner fairytale imagery and culminate it a truly magical vacation.
