American Realty was very easy to work with and even allowed us to check in a bit early, which was awesome!! The only negative is that we were there during hurricane Elsa. Our cottage and others flooded over night. Not a big deal and obviously no ones fault. It would have been a great gesture by the rental company, however, to check in with us and inquire if everything was alright or if we needed anything.

The property was very clean, accurately depicted, and very comfortable for 2-3 people. Communication during the check-in process was not ideal. We attempted to contact the property manager several times in the week leading up to our visit; however, we did not receive a response until late in the morning on the day we were checking in. Once we got a response every went smoothly, but it was pretty nerve racking flying all the way to Florida not knowing whether we were going to be able to access the place we were staying.

Unfortunately the whole experience was soured by the last day, when we were awakened by an electrician and told they had to turn off our our power "for an hour or so" and didn't ARG tell us? No they did not.

At about hour four with no lights/AC I walked over to the ARG office and told them what was going on. Their reply was to send someone with a bag of ice for the food in our fridge. I asked about opening another unit so we could use their electricity, but we were told they were all full (not true).

Electrician came by at hour five, apologized at about hour five and said he would buy us dinner anywhere we wanted to go. Power came back on an hour later and the crew disappeared with no further mention of dinner. I didn't really see this as his responsibility anyway; everything was working in the unit before the "repair" and this work should not have been scheduled when it was occupied.

Meanwhile we had food including raw meat for our last dinner, and guests coming to share it with us. We arrived and I attempted to use the (electric) stove only to find out it didn't work, and we noticed AC didn't come back on either. I called ARG again including the special number for "after hours maintenance emergencies" and just got recordings. So all the food went in the garbage and we sweated out the last night and left the next morning. Meanwhile that was Friday, today is Monday and I still have not heard from anyone at ARG. Very disappointed given our 15+ year relationship with them. Nice to know what loyalty buys you.

Clean, updated, well maintained cottage and property with all the amenities you would need for a quiet, relaxing stay on the beautiful island of Captiva. Rental agency is very friendly, professional and responsive to any requests you might have. I’ll definitely be back next year.

We had a great stay and would recommend this property for anyone looking for a quiet, well appointed cottage with palm trees and a bay view. Our only issue was perhaps our own we didn't realize that the check in/out procedure -- including property access, was at the bottom of an email (not the receipt, but another email "Reservation Confirmation" sent by the management company that for us unfortunately got marked as spam), thought we would mention this as it might help others.

Everything was clean and comfortable from the grounds to the pool and the dock, but we did miss the Adirondack chairs. We enjoy the convenient bay front location and the easy shady tropical walk to the beach. #8 has a cool 2-way mirror in the bedroom so that you don't missed out on the view to the bay.
