Value for money, quirky stay experience

It was as was described. It was quirky, unique, great value for money, great location-within 20mins walk feom the town yet views looking over the countryside. My hubby and I loved it especially the compost toilets. We’d definitely recommend too barn over bottom barn due to the toilets and undercover sitting area. These were great. It was very kind of Alison to have the fire set up on both nights so we only needed to provide the logs. Hubby and I would definitely return, our kids are spoiled and prefer the finer things so would perhaps vote differently!

Nothing we ‘didn’t like’ howvever if we were being picky on cleanliness I felt toaster could do with a scrub and some plates left by previous guests could have been cleaned better although that isn’t the owner’s fault. Shower took a few of our ££ to realise that dial was back to front which was fine but maybe a wee note to explain which way/number to turn dial for hot water as we kept putting ££ in thinking it needed a certain amount to get it going.

We had an excellent stay and will definitely use again.

Although the accommodation is basic, there is everything you could possibly need. Beds were comfy and even the composting loos were easy to use and not at all smelly. Great location on the outskirts of Leek, within easy reach of a garage/shop and handy for walks in the Peak District, or visiting Alton Towers, Carsington Water, Tittesworth Reservoir & The Roaches etc.

Duke of Ediburgh Gold students and supervising staff enjoyed experience.

It is not a hotel. It is basic upgrade of outdoor, farm style camping.

Condensation build up on windows and stone walls of converted outbuilding when you try to warm it up.

quirky little barn with ready to light fires outside , perfect for those who love a little outdoor lifestyle , chickens greeted us on arrival which the kids loved .

the toilet facilities do take a little getting used to but hey they add to the quirkiness of the barns

New addition the handy microwave and the barn in all its great you can't change it lovely experience and location.

Quirky Camping in the countryside

Spacious sleeping area with comfortable mattresses. Everything needed for ‘camping’. Quirky outdoor areas: eating shed, fire pits, composting loos. Great views. Spotlessly clean.

Owner was there if needed, very friendly. What you see in the photos is 100% what you get.

The way the neighbours want this place closed! Please respect the owner and keep the noise down, don't let the moaning neighbours win!

Comfortable nights sleep and great value for money

Owner was extremely helpful and welcoming. The facilities were more than we needed and clean. Liked the spotlights at the top of each bed and plenty of plug sockets.

Could use some kind of Ashtray outside.

Everything. Was a perfect location. More than enough cooking utensils (as some say there wasn't). Normal size fridge with small freezer above. Shower was always hot, toilets were never smelly (there were 14 of us). Plenty of room for everybody without tripping over each other. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of day trips within 20mins drive including alton towers. The owner was fantastic, on hand if needed although we didn't need anything. Was amusing when having a bbq and a chicken stole a sausage off the bbq! If you don't like chickens then take a water pistol!!

The way the neighbours moan to the council. Please don't let this place be shut down by the neighbours, they are really grumpy and don't like people having fun. Please annoy the neighbours by not being too noisy so they have nothing to complain to the council for.

if you are visiting Alton Towers a perfect overnight stop off, Leek has lots of eating options and close to the park, we

quirky and so much fun, minimal fuss everything self explanatory when we arrived. Nice touch with the welcome sign.

Delightful, quirky and worth it!

We loved the room so much! It was open, airy, spacious, comfortable, very accommodating, quiet and tranquil. I was massively surprised at how accurate the reviews were. It seemed like a gamble at first, taking my 3 nieces away with me and my husband, thinking they might complain- but they absolutely loved it! So did I. I loved the rustic theme, the fact there were so many beds to choose from- the location of the toilet was perfect for me. I liked that the toilet was so old school using chippings rather than water. There were wild chickens roaming which was super cute. We got to sit and have a campfire going (we brought our own fire wood) and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We went to Alton Towers theme park over the course of two days and the location was brilliant for that. There is also a garage just down the road (kinda need a car) which was handy for snack/food and milk etc.

The only downside was the fact the kids said it was slightly cold for them (typical kids)- but we had the heater on and used the oven as suggested. If people are staying in the winter time, perhaps consider taking your own little heaters or hot water bottles and extra blankets. Other than that it was perfect!

Good experience and price you get what you pay for

It was absolutely brilliant definitely an experience with the shower and toilet. But kids really enjoyed the whole experience of being in a barn we even stayed and extra night and went cliff climbing jam packed few day water and alton tower out door.

Could do with few more matts in shower and maybe a bit more time to have a shower but all in all was really good

Great location, great host, beautiful memories !

Its a lovely property in exact right location. The host Alison is wonderful and she took good care of us. We will come back soon. The most memorable trip of 2022.

Great place to stay!

The camping barns were great , a lovely comfortable place to stay , nice and secure place and lovely for the children to have a little play outside whilst the adults are busy (cooking) . Lovely little place to cook and make hot drinks inside and a great place outdoors to cook on the fire and a warm little hut to sit in . Alison the owner was so friendly and very helpful.

There was nothing I didnt like about Leek Camping Barns , i have already booked to go back . I dont know why there is a sad face above I didnt put it there .🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

Very good

Very impressed with property, something different. Good location and beautiful view around. Friendly host, wood logs available all the time for fire pit. Quite place, eco toilets. Fully equipped kitchen. Comfy beds for this type of property. Would go back again. Highly recommend

Fantastic. Kids loved it . Great for a 1st time camping experience

Location perfect for Alton towers.. Loved the camp fire areas already set up outdoors Everything you needed was there for a night camping ⛺. Just remember .Food n bedding.

Would of loved a microwave. But then its not proper camping . So not that important

It was definitely different in a good way and will stay In our memory and we would use it again .

We knew what to expect from the accommodation as we had read the reviews and looked at the pictures and although the teenage granddaughters with us were at first shocked by the compost loo they liked the setting and the outdoor area the boys loved the fact they could make a fire and be outdoors as well although basic it was clean and had all the necessary utensils etc to self cater for your family we had weekend passes for Alton Towers so were not really there that much it was more a base for sleeping but had we been there in the evenings to sit out I know the children would have enjoyed it ,there were 8 of us in total me and hubby and granddaughters aged 15,13,and 11 and grandsons aged 14,12,and 12 again the kids were surprised that we would all be in the beds beside each other but they got over it and enjoyed their time together we had a lot of laughs and moans but definitely made a memory we will talk about forever

Possible more cutlery and kitchen utensils including a bread knife would have been handy
