Fantastic location and brilliant hotel - we'll be back

The room was immaculate, and very spacious and comfortable. Everything you could possibly need was provided in the kitchen it was great! Also to have an ice fridge! The staff were very friendly and helpful especially the hotel manager. We brought a toddler and they were lovely with her.

Great hotel, nice big, clean room, good location, close to the lift. The onsen was nice, having an on-site ski and board store was great for waxing. The board and boot locker was good and my boots were always dry the next day. The staff were so friendly, helpful and understanding. especially following an incident in the onsen with my partner.

It was busy, there were not enough staff in the morning to cater for the amount of people that were dining there, which means people were waiting a long time for breakfast and tables were not getting cleared for new guests. There were a lot of American guests there who did not respect the customs with the onsen. Would not recommend Niseko for a Japanese experience.

Budget friendly basement rooms are top notch!

Easy Niseko ski hill access with a knowledgeable ski rental shop in the lobby. Free parking and centrally located, I will definitely stay again!

Shared Onsens would have enhanced the experience.

Great apartments, mediocre service

The design of the apartments is excellent

They moved the kids ski school to another location, no longer at the Base in front of The Vale and there are very infrequent shuttle buses there unlike at their neighbouring resorts eg Aya and Setsu. We once waited 40 minutes for a pickup after ski school ended and had to call 3 times before someone came for us. We had an issue with the fireplace and heating at 11pm but there isn’t a reliable maintenance service. the night manager couldn’t answer any of our questions and while the issues were finally resolved, he told us repeatedly he wasn’t sure if he could get hold of maintenance, everyone was off-duty. He tried to Google how to fix the heating system and had no idea how to fix the fireplace but also wasn’t sure if anyone would be able to help us. Night duty service needs work.

Excellent breakfast that is packaged into most bookings, onsen facilities were great and felt authentic. Location was right by the family chair lift.

Seemed like they cut costs where they could. Rooms were very basic, carpet felt old and a bit dingy. Hotel was clearly short staffed. During breakfast, there was 1 waiter running around for the entire restaurant. Housekeeping is nonexistent, they come to change out your trash/towels every other day and they’ll change your linens every 4 days. When I emailed the front drs prior to our stay about helping us with reservations, I was told they don’t do that, only to find out there is an entire concierge service that specializes in doing that.

Basement rooms SCAM!!!!

location is very good, convenient to access slopes and the village at the same time

the hotel has 5 basement room they sell just among the regular ones without any note apart from emails you reserved after your reservation. apart from the visibility on a wall and the parking lot over it, there is no mobile signal and lot of noises coming from the ski lockers. I am sure there might be clients interesting in saving something for this kind of accommodation, I hate I was tricked into it and the personnel, well prepared to handle the outcome of this evident common scam of theirs, has a bad attitude on top of being totally unhelpful. last but not least, don’t pay extra for the breakfast, you get to choose only 1 dish and 1 drink from the menu. if you want both a coffee and a juice you need to pay extra! you can have a better and cheaper breakfast anywhere in town…

The perfect ski weekend!

The staff was courteous, friendly, and helpful. The breakfast at the hotel restaurant was tremendous; what a great way to start each day. The room was beautiful with breath-taking views of the surrounding area. The ski/boot room was very convenient. A very short walk to the family lift, which made the rest of Grand HIrafu very accessible. Shuttle service from and to the welcome center and other resorts topped everything off.

Overall, it was a positive experience.

Positive: the staff is absolutely lovely! I got some help to clear snow off the car, and my wife & I were able to ski on the last day thanks to late check out. The breakfast menu food was very tasty, we really wish we could have had lunch and dinner (not available at moment this review is written) in the restaurant as well! And the indoor & outdoor onsen/sauna was great, we used it everyday :)

Areas of improvement: for almost 60,000¥ (around 500$) per night, we didn't expect to have a room in the basement with a view of the bottom of a tree and a parking lot. Toilet seats aren't heated (maybe we've been spoiled by Japanese toilets) and have no washlet function. Probably because of Covid: the pool was closed and the restaurant doesn't serve lunch or dinner. I won't argue about the health concerns, but The Vale could be more proactive with respect to lunch and dinner for its guests (considering the pricing). It was our first time in Niseko so we don't have any comparison point. Having said that, considering the high price point, it doesn't compare well to the other resorts in Hokkaido that we have stayed at.

It was a wonderful time, I'll definitely come back next year.

The receptionists were exceptional and very attentive. The location is perfect, very close to the ski lift, and the room was is very spacious.

I wish the open air onsen was a little bigger, with a nice garden, and had some space without a roof, so I could have some snow around when inside the water.

Fabulous Getaway and Great Access to the Slopes!!!

We were so excited to get to Niseko to ski, but our flight came in past normal check in hours. The staff left a detailed message on how to get in and they got us a room right beside the ski lockers. You can walk right out on to the slopes from the hotel and the rooms are beautiful and clean on the inside. They come clean the rooms each day around mid morning and they provide lots of travel magazines and maps to explore the area. The best part about our stay was the staff. Even though I can speak some broken Japanese, they were so kind and helpful- they reserved both dinner reservations at delicious restaurants recommended by them and they were so helpful when we needed to get an early taxi out our last day, something we could not have figured out by ourselves due to the local taxi numbers and hours not being easy to find. If we go back to Niseko I will 100% stay here again simply for the easy access to the slopes and the amazing services provided by the staff.

This is completely understandable and very surface level, but the Onsen and the pool were closed. If you would like that as a part of the experience, it will not be provided here during COVID. Just a heads up to those who want that along with their stay.
