This home needs some TLC. It appears to have been a rental for a long time.
I emailed the property manager before arriving to ensure all appliances were working (past reviews stated they were not), they assured me everything has been fixed and in working order. This was false. The coffee machine does not work. On a chilly mountain morning, it would have been nice to have a cup of coffee. The home also advertises a grill. There were three empty gas cans beside the grill. None of them were full. For the price that we paid for this home for an extended weekend I was not impressed. The property management company is out of state I assume. Whenever we emailed them about the home, they just sent us blanket statements.

The cabin was very clean, generally well-appointed, and close to downtown Grand Lake and other local sights.

We spent 3 nights with 4 adults and 4 kids aged 4 to 7. The bunk room was a perfect space for the kids and far enough from the rest of the house so that we weren't worried about waking them up as we played board games into the night. It was a good location that had a nice view of the lake from the deck, ample room for the kids to explore around the chalet, and was a very short drive from Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park. Would recommend!

We went with our college friends & had a great weekend. We all fit in the house perfectly. Thank you.

Super nice fully furnished cabin, don’t understand the other reviews crying about close neighbors. It’s literally a good throw from shadow mountain lake and close to everything good in the area. Sure there are houses around but everyone was minding their business and either renting as well or living their own life. No complaints on my end and we would rent it again.

Slipped on unmaintained stairway to home and injured my back. Had to shovel hardened as ice from stairs in order to access home - did not expect to be in pain our entire vacation. Totally unacceptable. Not clean, hardly any toilet paper.
Considering options now.

The house appears to be secluded but in fact it is not. Houses are all very close on all sides. Literally a view of another house super close on ALL sides. Opening windows to enjoy "views" is not a option here. No privacy at all!! The main deck literally looks into anther homes windows. The only good view is through the neighboring house to the views on the other side. The front deck looks straight into another home where loud construction was going on at sun up. The outside railing was damaged with large splintering which was very dangerous. The house was run down and needed a lot of TLC. Chipping paint everywhere. There were cob webs everywhere inside and out. Fire alarm was dangling. Shower was run down and was a terrible shower experience. They diffidently need a new shower head. Rooms were over crowded with furniture and the fire place was very lacking. A weird TV stand sits right in front of it as well. We were so unhappy we left after only one night and had to find our own housing else where. Vacasa was not willing to refund money even though the place was not properly advertised to be and with safety issues. We are very much disappointed as we have used Vacasa many times for our family vacations. I understand that advertising a rental you try and show the best foot forward and leave out some details. BUT this home was very misleading leaving our vacation in ciaos. We are not out only a lot of money but also wasted 2 days of our trip trying to deal with a rental and vacasa. With the results of no refund and wasted precious vacation time.

I loved everything since I get in the house, very clean, beautiful spacious and perfect for our family. We have a great time. I will be here again. Strongly recommend.

The house is incredibly located a street away from Shadow Mountain Lake, is cozy but very spacious (especially the bedrooms!). The kitchen is well stocked with pots, utensils, etc to cook. There is one garage parking spot and you can fit 2-3 cars in the driveway. We had a great time and would stay again. However below are a few things that may help the renter make some improvements.
Clicking the address provided in the checkin instructions or entering the address directly into a map app brings you to an incorrect address nearby. Luckily we showed up in daylight but it would’ve been very hard in the dark.
The shower heads as others have mentioned are horrible. The water sprays everywhere and results in very little water hitting you. It took me ~4x as long as normal to wash my hair.
The pillows are paper thin and left us all with neck pain, wishing we brought our own.
You do need to bring your trash to a drop off location or take it with you.

The house was absolutely beautiful with a lovely large deck to relax. Large rooms and well stocked. The dishwasher and garbage disposal not working properly. However, pleasant visit and quiet neighborhood. Our family loves this area and we stay every summer.

Beautiful cabin in a semi-private location with views of the Rockies. Plenty of space for our family of 6. There are definitely some things showing wear & malfunction (carpets, blinds, microwave, stove, grill, etc). We improvised with our cooking plans and it worked out fine. Recommend this as a great, comfortable base camp for all the area has to offer! We will hopefully be back.

Overall, our stay was perfect for a weekend trip with friends. The place was clean, great location, and had plenty of room. My only complaint was the pillows! Everyone complained how flat they were and we all woke up with sore necks.

The house is very nice spacious, and well located close to grand lake in a quiet residential area. Well equipped with all the things a family needs for a stay. Only a few very minor things that need a bit of attention such as the showers not working as well as they could (probably only need new shower heads) and the bottom room being a fair bit colder than the rest of the house. I would certainly visit and rent this place again

Amazing vacation home
This is the second time we book this home for our family vacation, and let me tell you the home has it all! From the views to the comfort of the home. I will definitely be booking for our 3rd vacation out in the mountains next year!

Cabin was very nice and well maintained. Very comfortable atmosphere. Coffee pot was in need of an upgrade ( even though it was a high end coffee maker ) Getting rid of the garbage was confusing as there were no directions on where to take it. Had a very nice stay and would rent again !

Our family visited the Shadow Mountain Chalet for a Thanksgiving Holiday vacation. The space was impressive, the rooms were more than adequate for our needs. The amenities of the house were wonderful. The location was close to Grand Lake downtown. All in all, a wonderful experience.

We have been going to Grand Lake and renting a cabin every summer for 10+ years now so have gotten to know the area fairly well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much but in all honestly, there were some things we didn’t like. I will be as objective as I can so I can give you, the potential renter, information we find to be pertinent.
What we liked
- The cabin is built very well with many high end touches
- The bedrooms were large and overall very comfortable (some chairs in the second bedroom would be a nice improvement)
- Check in could not have been any easier
- We did have an issue that needed fixing and the company that owns the property was very responsive and fixed it immediately
- The deck was large and comfortable
What we did not like
- The location: This is our primary “dislike.” The pics make it look as if the cabin is isolated in the forest. It is, in fact, in a neighborhood. We were looking forward to letting our daughters go out and explore the woods and we could not let them do so as they would have been trespassing through the neighbors properties.
- Not all of the windows had screens so we could not open some to get a cross breeze on the warmer days
- The dishwasher, although a very high-end model, is oddly designed. It has two individual dishwashers that allow you to run small loads if needed. To that end, the plates could not stand upright in either the top or bottom as they were too big so we had to wash them by hand for ease of purpose
- Although stocked, the kitchen needs to be replenished. There were very few bowls for food storage (something we have found to be pretty standard), the nonstick coating on the pans has worn off, and the knives were all dull
- The pics of the interior were taken in a way so that it made the rooms (particularly the family room, dining room, and kitchen) look bigger than they actually are. Not a huge issue as the difference was slight but we definitely noticed that when we saw the cabin in person.
Overall, with the exception of the location, we did like the place and would not dissuade someone from staying here as it is very nice. But, if I’m being honest, there were too many “dislikes” for a property that is in this price range (and this is at 2021 prices.. I notice 2022 prices are substantially higher).

The location of this property is awesome, it's close enough to town and has views of the lake. It was not too far to the marina that we rented our boat from which was also a plus.
Really the only complaints about the house was that there was not enough toilet paper and some of the cookware was still dirty.

This house was fully equipped, clean and well decorated. The view was beautiful of the lake and mountains. Vacasa is very organized and a pleasure to work with.
