We've stayed at other properties in Dunes South and this one earns 5 stars for location. You can't beat the view from the top deck and beach access is only a 30 second walk. The beach was clean, uncrowded, and conveniently located between two piers that offer food, activities and sights to see. The house could have used a little updating but if you aren't bothered by a bit of wear and tear it will do just fine. The property is also a duplex so you'll have to keep the possibility of having neighbors in mind. The house offered everything we needed for cooking. We opted to not rent linens and just brought our own towels and sheets. Pillows and comforters were still provided which was a plus. Overall great stay for our family and we look forward to renting again in the future!

This unit has the best location in the complex, it's right on the beach with an amazing porch that overlooks the ocean. It was clean and well stocked and the beds were comfortable. The only slight issue was the thin walls between the it and the adjoining unit. It wasn't bad but you knew you had neighbors.

We booked this through VRBO, but the rest of our contact was with a realty company. House description was accurate. Right on the ocean, but due to the dunes you do have to walk a short distance to the beach access. As noted in other reviews the stairs to the loft are steep so we did not use that bed. The kitchen is well equipped. The only problem there was the ice maker wasn’t working and did not get repaired during our stay. Overall the bathrooms and kitchen were clean, but the floors were not very clean. Dust bunnies and hair. We did not use the linen service so can’t comment on that.

Good price, great location

The property was certainly very nice. The beach was great, there was a lot about the property that was really good. The kitchen was probably the best-stocked kitchen of all beach rentals I've been in (at least a dozen). What bothered me most though was the fact that we spent about double what we normally spend on a beach rental for this property and it definitely was not worth the extra price. We had to pay $200 extra for sheets and towels, only to realize at 11pm on our night of arrival that we had to make the beds - not what we wanted to do after a 12-hour drive! There are definitely not enough rugs at the entrances and in the property, so sand is everywhere, which is annoying, especially for those with touch sensitivity issues. The wifi was AWFUL, and Verizon service here was very limited. We tried playing a basic (not network-intensive) family game and after an hour of struggling with the wifi going in and out, we gave up. Wifi kept dropping, and Verizon hotspots weren't any better. Very frustrating, especially since my husband and I were also trying to check in with work via email sometimes. Having to check-in in person was an unneeded hassle - yes it was right on the way and only took a few minutes, but all we picked up was some brochures and the door code. Why couldn't they have just emailed the code and left the brochures like all other companies do? Also having to go through the company directly, even though I rented through vrbo, was a hassle. I had to sign, scan, and fax back the rental agreement instead of doing it all online. I had to set a reminder for myself to CALL THEM to make the last payment a month before our dates, otherwise risked losing the rental and our deposit, because they don't automate the payment on their end and they are not responsible for a missed or forgotten payment. If this is listed on vrbo, then I should be able to do it all through vrbo, and I should not have to initiate payment. Vrbo has always done that for all other rentals I've done. So overall - very nice rental but definitely not worth twice the price for all of the hassles.

Great location, perfect clean beach, enough space for 2 families. Saw dolphins, played in the waves, sat on porch, great sunrise and sunset. Property manager always available for any questions that we have.

The condo is in a wonderful location. Beach is nice and wide, two piers are within walking distance on the beach or the bike/walking trail. We were concerned about having to walk around a couple of the other condos to get to beach access. It wasn't a huge deal, but I would prefer to have direct access from the house, especially with a child. The beds were surprisingly comfortable for a rental! However, it is a pain having to provide our own sheets and towels for a week vacation when we are packing a car for a 9 hour drive. Would really love to see these be included. At least bath towels and bathmats! Kitchen, dining and living area were great layout and setup for our family. Kitchen had everything we need. Was nice to have a regular coffee maker, since we brought ground coffee, but there was also a Keurig for those who prefer pods. All cooking, bottle opening, crab leg cracking, etc needs were met with what was provided. Agree with previous reviewers about the loft stairs being too steep for older folks or kids. Its really best for a teen or tween only. We are 6 adults and one small child - the child took the bunk bedroom and we put one couple in the loft. We made it work, but it wasn't ideal. If you don't need the loft for adults, this is a wonderful option! Having a good outdoor shower is key after sandy beach days before going back into the house, so the very private outdoor shower setup was appreciated. The house and furniture was in pretty decent shape for a rental. No complaints there. As for cleanliness, it was as expected for a beach rental. You can never really get all the sand out in one morning after one departure and before another arrival. So that's not a big deal. The management we spoke with was kind and helpful. We didn't have any maintenance or other issues, so didn't have to worry about that. Area is great, as its far enough from the center of the action to be quiet and not too crowded. However, a short drive gets you to restaurants, shopping, etc.

This was our first family vacation in Nag’s Head. We will be back. We loved the property, better in person than in pictures. Great location. Clean and well maintained. Only comment would be having to go to the reality office in person to get the check in code for entry. We have not had to do that for a vacation renal in years. Would recommend for a great family vacation!

The crab painted on a pallet was my favorite. The owners paid attention to functional aspects like additional hooks in the bathroom. I appreciated the lights being labeled (eg. Hall light). It sleeps 10. We stayed as a family of 4 perfect for us. If young children or elderly don't have them stay I'm the loft upstairs the stairs would be a little steep (we didn't need to use). The master had dark curtains the only thing I would change is black out curtains in the other guest rooms and allow dog (just because I love this place so much and want to come back but go on more vacations with my mini goldendoodle, nonshed). The company is also great and easy to work with. I highly recommend staying at this location as well as Carolina shores vacation rentals.

My family and I enjoyed the Back to the Beach rental last week. We had gorgeous weather for October! The house is nice if you don't mind a lot of stairs. The deck and the living room offer amazing views of the beach. The kitchen was organized and it was nice the rental included a high chair and baby gates for my 1 year old baby. Downsides - it was clean but not pristine clean. The first day we checked-in, I was unpacking in my barefeet and I realized I had black soot on my feet. The floors were very grimmy. The L-shape couch had popcorn, sand and crumbs in the cracks not from us. Also, we checked-in and there was not a single toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags or soap provided. I never stayed at a OBX rental where they did not provide at least a few TP's and maybe one roll of paper towels or soap to get you started. Lastly I am not sure how or why Carolina Shores is allowed to go to VRBO for the rentals. It's not Vacation Rental by Owner, it's Vacation rental by Carolina Shores. Because of that, you can't pay your balance through the app, they don't message you any check-in instructions and then you have to check-in, in person at their office for a keyless entry! At 4pm which is a later check-in. I would not do another rental through VRBO/Carolina Shores again because of the reasons above.

Great location on the beach. Short walk to dune crossing, less than one minute from your door until you are on the beach. Expansive view of ocean from large second floor deck.

When we checked in the space had a lot of sand still on the floors and the furniture, seemed not swept at all. The decks need some attention as far as loose boards and things like that. And the shower head was broken in the master bathroom. But aside from that we had a great stay, the location is pretty amazing.
