About this house rental
Great cabin located in the heart of Mount Lemmon, with lots of shade. The cabin is within walking distance to Summerheaven and a short distance to Ski Valley. This cabin is great for a family of four and has all the amenities you'll need for a great cabin stay. We are pet-friendly. The cabin has two decks to enjoy, and we have very relaxing deck seating available and a comfortable hammock to lay down and enjoy the shade.
This cabin is not called “Stairway to Heaven” for nothing. From the north side of the cabin (road), it will take you 62 steps to the cabin entrance. However, you can drive up the private driveway on the south side of the cabin, which is 32 steps down to the cabin entrance. You have to drive up a hill to get to the private driveway. The hill may seem steep; however, this is the easiest way to get to the cabin's south side/main entrance; a 4x4 or all-wheel-drive car is recomended.

It was cold and rainy for our stay, the fireplace insert was wonderful. While we didn't spend alot of time outside our pup loved it out on the deck. Quiet, peaceful retreat!

We enjoyed our stay overall. It was great that they accomodate pets and we could bring our lab along. Our girls really enjoyed the loft and the board games and giggled the night away. I enjoyed the peace and quiet and just being in nature. The mattress/pillows are not the most comfortable so we had a difficult time going to sleep and ending up coming home a night early. Otherwise, it's a very peaceful, lovely cabin.

The cabin itself is very bare bones but cute, cozy and sufficient. We are low maintenance people and we loved it. The location is everything. The stairs were hard but he makes that very clear in the listing so we came prepared for that. The cabin was very clean but I will mention that dog hair was everywhere and if you aren’t a dog person be prepared- that was a little uncomfortable but no biggie. There is no sound proofing whatsoever so sleep was rough.
The unfortunate outcome was that after our very beautiful stay celebrating our daughter’s 18th birthday I received a text from the host accusing us of breaking their Murphy sofa. This was shocking because it actually hadn’t worked the first night we tried it. I explained this to him but he still charged us an additional $300 to replace it in spite of it being decades old and made of particle board. So that put a damper on our getaway and we won’t be returning as we had planned.
Our mistake was obviously in not contacting him the minute we found that it didn’t work but there were multiple small things that didn’t work and we just didn’t mind. If you choose to stay with this host, definitely keep this in mind and report everything and anything that doesn’t work.
I should also mention that VRBO handled the situation for us in what I can only describe as the best customer service experience of my life. ☺️
