Build a beautiful resort village on a favorite Hatteras Island location, and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest rental units to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are literally steps from the beachfront. Bring the bikes, because Buxton’s unique shops, restaurants, and lighthouse are all very close. Forget the 4WD vehicle - those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point, and if luck is on your side during the summer, a few sea turtle nests (be careful to stay outside the barriers). This is an excellent two-bedroom condo with one-and-a-half baths. The interior has been professionally-decorated with comfortable and fun beach décor. You'll have access to an outside shower and a patio. An escape to the cape never looked so good as at Cottages at the Cape. THINGS TO KNOW You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking which will be sent to your email. You will not be able to check-in until we have received your signature electronically. Guests can enjoy access to the Club Hatteras Pool Facility. Additional details around this facility will be shared in your check-in email and during the check-in process. The club is typically open Mid-May to Mid-October, depending on weather. This property is managed by Vacasa North Carolina LLC. If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The pet fee is per stay and ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog. Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles. Due to local laws or HOA requirements, guests must be at least 25 years of age to book. Guests under 25 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the reservation.

Yet again our week has come and gone. We had an excellent time. We have made it a tradition to come every year for our anniversary. We will definitely continue to stay in one of these homes. So close to the beach and very nice. Until next time. Peace Out ✌️

Was a great stay, two minute walk to beach. Great ac unit. Great back porch. Awesome kitchen, but bring your own knives and pans and they are rusty or in disrepair. Other than that it was a clean, fantastic location.

Property is very dated we realize it was at the end of rental season but it could have been cleaner. Holes in the wall holes in the bathroom wall dirty lights the back of the doors are dirty looks like they hit the vacuum and cleaned a little but we ended up cleaning. They left the bag of dirty linen downstairs but yet required us to put all of our linen in the Box and require us almost to clean the whole place before we left the location was excellent that was about the only thing they had going

This was a great place to stay. We could see the ocean and just steps away from the beach. The lighthouse was our backyard view. I am giving an overall rating of 4 stars. A few things that could help with the next stay and I would stay here again. Does have a musty smell. Needs some maintenance done (holes in shower, peeling paint in shower. Broken or missing pieces in kitchen. Bi-fold doors in bedrooms falling apart. Porch needs a good cleaning and treated. One suggestion is to provide a few amenities like a hair dryer, beach towels. Beach chairs or information on renting beach chairs. The pool that is listed is about 6 miles away and not in the area we stayed.

Sitting in the dining room or living room or back screened-in porch - you can daydream as you watch the rotating light on the Cape Hatteras lighthouse. Shift your view and you can catch the horizon hovering over the Atlantic water. What a wonderful location! An exceptionally clean house too. Best vacation we’ve had in years renting Hatteras houses.

Nice stay, but needs some renovation. Black moled on the vent in 3rd floor bathroom, all blinds needs to replaced, holes in the walls and ceiling need to fixed due to water damage in living area.

Location was great for getting to the beach to fish. The area was very quiet except for the wonderful sound of the ocean and the lighthouse was no bother to us. Would come back anytime.

Back deck has great view but floor covered in green, needs to be pressure washed once in a while. Very basic and not very comfortable furnishings. Beds are quite firm, and bring your own pillows because the ones supplied were very small and flat. All appliances worked, and it was nice having washer and dryer, but the sink in the one full bathroom was clogged and extremely slow to drain. The suppled towels and linens were fine, but make sure to bring your own soaps and shampoos. There was no garden hose, which made it hard to rinse things off. All in all it was fine for two guys who just needed a reasonably priced place to sleep in between fishing.

While the location was great, the rental company neglected to leave us enough bath towels. When I emailed them, they provided me a list of what should have been there and told me they might be able to send more later in the week. Sadly, I never got any more assistance and had to purchase extra towels.

We stayed in a duplex that was located in the Cottages at the Cape community, right next to the Hatteras National Seashore beach in Buxton, NC., near the Hatteras Lighthouse. It was an easy walk to the beach, which we did daily. The accommodations were very nice - plenty of space in this three-story duplex. The kitchen had plenty of counter space, new-ish, decent appliances, plenty of dishes, pots and pans, etc. The two bedrooms were fine, comfortable beds. The only negative is that the lighthouse shone directly into one of the bedrooms - every 7 1/2 seconds! It has an incredibly strong, piercing light, which is great for ships on the ocean, but not so great for sleeping. The blinds in the bedroom were ineffective in blocking out the light. I would strongly suggest that the owners or managers of all the others in this little community provide black-out shades. There wasn't any way to hang a beach towel or anything over the window. Otherwise, it was a very pleasant location: quiet, close to the beach, and close to restaurants, grocery store, gas station, etc.

It was a good location although I didn't get to check in until 4 pm for a day I paid for then had to be out at 10 am on a day I paid for so technically between the late check in and early check out I only stayed 6 days instead of seven. There were a few issues I found a spit bottle next to the couch and onion peels in one of the drawers in the kitchen and there was some water damage in the drywall which I can fix if your interested thats what I do for a living drywall and painting sonic your interested in swapping work for a rental let me know other then that I had an awsome time the weather was great the people were great.

Now the negative: the house had multiple places on the ceiling that were water damaged and not repaired as well as a hole in the wall of the shower and other damage to the walls and the TV in the living room didn't work. These were all things we could live with, but potential renters should be aware of.

Great location
Easy to work with rental company. Furniture and beds are pretty low-end and about as comfortable as 2-star hotel. It’s a nice location near the beach. Closed in patio is nice. Overall we were happy with our stay at Bluefish!

A nice getaway
Make sure you stop in the neighboring town of Avon for your keys - they have to be picked up from one of the rental offices which is not on property (was about 4 miles away).
The townhouse was in a great location - short walk out the backyard and you are at Buxton beach access. Plenty of space, and not busy (helps to maintain social distancing). The unit itself had almost everything you need, but it was dated and could use a bit of a face lift (the beds were uncomfortable, and some of the walls needed patching and a fresh coat of paint). Kitchen and appliances were fine. Overall, had a nice time.
