There were some good things about the stay. The apartment was clean and the landlord communicative. But I wouldn't rent it again. My apartment, on the first floor, had a staircase landing behind the locked door. I couldn't tell if the apartment was secure, which bothered me. The bathroom was right across from the stair. A flat screen TV sat on the lowest step; was that to block people from going up? The arrangement of the apartment was mysterious with multiple closed-off rooms connecting to the rented apartment. The place was dim. The light in the main room was a chandelier with only a single working bulb. The bed mattresses were really thin and not comfortable. So, while the apartment worked as a place to crash, it probably wasn't worth the rent I paid, given the other options at that price.

Clean apt. Check in process was very easy and Anthony was very good at communicating before and throughout the stay. It is a cute apt with all you need. We didn’t cook in the apt so not sure about the appliances. It is an old building so at times it is loud with other guests in the hallway right outside the bedroom. Overall a good apartment for a weekend in Portland.

The apartment reserved for us was not cleaned or at all ready for guests. After lengthy arrangements with the owner we were put into another apartment which had seriously faulty hot water service.

The location is ideal for a stay in Portland. Some of the best restaurants in the city steps away. Must get breakfast at Brakes and Shocks down the street, the breakfast muffin is amazing, as are all their baked goods. Lines are long, but go quickly. Parking is available in 1 hour or two hour spots on the street, and you can leave the car from 6pm to 10 am or 11 am (the new time starts at 9am). I recommend downloading the Passport app for ease of daytime parking and renewal at meters. Here are the irritations. Another review said the water was "wonky." We discovered that means that after one shower of about 5 minutes the next person should be prepared for a shock of ice cold water. That happened twice, on the first and last days. The host sent a plumber, but the hot water had returned to normal so we were told to wait for the cold water to turn hot, which takes a while even when there is hot water. But there is a problem, as the other reviewer also reported. The other irritation was that we found a new Roku stick in its box. Without the stick, the screen is basically useless, unless you bring a computer and an HDMI connection. I got the Roku stick attached to an HDMI port, used my Roku account to log in, and accessed my channels. If you activate the Roku stick, don't forget to deactivate it before you leave (go to roku.com and search for "deactivate device" to get the link to unlinking devices you've added. Finally, given the placement of the screen, you will need to move the pull out bed/sofa in the living room across the room so you can comfortably view the screen, with one person on the coach with their back on the arm rest (the couch does not face the screen.) The cold water shock, the Roku issue, and the seating problem, do not in any way make this property unacceptable. The irritations, if you know about them, are not insurmountable. The host will reply to your Vrbo message within a few hours, though we didn't ever manage to reach her by phone. Don't complain about the water, the host doesn't think there's a problem (there is, trust me). And the Roku will work, but you will need to activate it with your account, or make an account (it's free) to access your Amazon Prime, Netflix, Apple TV, etc. Just remember to deactivate the device.
