About this house rental

Located in Lake Gaston, this charming house for $199 per night is a great option for your next vacation. We know how important it is to feel comfortable & relaxed when you chisel out the time for a much needed retreat.  That's why we are inviting you to our home on Pea Hill Creek at lovely Lake Gaston.  We love our home and we hope, for at least a few days, that you will too!  We have remodeled the kitchen and added some new furniture.  We installed a fire pit, set out the corn hole, hung some hammocks, added some really cool bistro lights and added a drip AND Keurig coffee maker!  If you have small children you will really like that we have ZERO rip-rap and you can walk right off the grassy area and ease into a sandy bottom swimming area.  Years ago we made the decision to just do a pier to preserve the views.  Anyone can still pull up their boat and tie off!  Because this is a calm area you won't (Well, probably won't!  Bring your bumpers anyways just in case...) get much of the deep wave action from the big wake boats. Oh, by the way, if you get here and simply must check in with work (shame on you!!!) you can do so on some pretty snappy internet!  It's not fiber fast, but we consistently get about 60mbs download and 25mbs upload speed.  The house is on lovely Pea Hill Creek (cue the angelic choir) which is known for flat lots and sandy beach areas and super clear water quality.  Washburns marina is close by where you can get fuel, fishing tackle for the weekend fisherman, a scoop of ice cream, a surprisingly good cheeseburger and a properly made hot dog (mustard, chili, onions and slaw baby!!). We think the house would be great for about 8 to 10 people.  The "Master" has a slider that goes right out to the deck.  Attached to the Master is an additional room with two twin beds.  There is also a full bath linked to the Master and this additional room.  On the other side of the house is another deck/water facing bedroom and adjacent to it on the back side of the home is the bunkroom seen in the pictures.  There is a full hall bath available to these rooms and the main area of the home. Better hurry!  We think we will book quickly!  Cozy to the moon and back, and easy on the wallet will make our little lakeside cabin a hot tamale this summer!  ;) You'll find the home fully stocked with utensils, pots, pans and about 80% of what most people need.  If you need a specialty utensil or tool it might be best to bring it to avoid any hiccups to meal preparation.  The management staff can assist with any special requests and is always available to help with whatever you need! The bathrooms are stocked with courtesy soaps and shampoos designed for quick "off the shelf" use.  Each bathroom has a roll of septic-friendly toilet tissue as a starter.  Some use more, some use less.  You are encouraged to bring whatever you feel you might need beyond the courtesy roll provided. A few more tid-bits...  :) 1.  Trained service animals are welcome!  Otherwise we have a strict no pets policy.  We can help arrange lodging for your pets at a local shelter during your stay if you'd like; just give us a call! 2.  The house, like 99% of all lake homes, uses a septic system.  This system is a finely balanced biological system.  Please help us keep it working flawlessly by flushing ONLY toilet paper.  Renters are responsible for any damage caused by misuse. 3.  Bow-Riders and deep draft Wake Board boats need to check their Humminbirds to ensure adequate depth in all coves.  Pontoons should have no issues and everyone is welcome to tie off at the pier with rental boats.  You won't see much heavy wave action making it a safe haven for docking (make sure to bring your bumpers!)

What a great way to expose our kids to lake life! The kayaks and opportunity to jump of the pier are exactly what we were hoping for!

The house itself is nice and in a great location. Great Lake access and private dock. However, the house was extremely dirty and unclean upon arrival. My group and I spent the first two hours cleaning dust and cobwebs from the whole house, as well as grime and grease from the kitchen. The house also had an exorbitant amount of flies and a musty/old food smell indicating lack of cleaning and past cigarette smoking indoors, even though their were non-smoking signs everywhere. When we messaged the property managers on the first day to let them know, we received what seemed to be concern for the state of the property but with a bit of snark. They stated they would stop by but seeing as we had already cleaned as much as we could, and we were a group of women in our late twenties and early thirties, we weren’t super comfortable with the idea of an unknown person coming to our vacation house in a remote area. Upon checkout and messaging the managers again to discuss some kind of potential conversation about compensation for the cleaning fee we had to pay, I regrettably received a very unkind and rude message from Les saying that he simply “did not believe me” and that we were wrong to expect compensation. I am sorry to say this was a very unpleasant experience and will never book through the “Lake Gaston Rentals” again. The company also email requests “only 5 stars” and weeds out poor reviews. This is a very biased and poor representation of their quality.

Upon are arrival our master bedroom had queen sheets waiting and it was a king size bed we had to go out and buy a whole set of sheets we were told we would get a 75.00 refund which I haven’t seen that happen . We loved the location just a few minor mess ups . The cleaning crew who cleans could have done a better job . We had one whole we had no water that was due to someone damaging something in the area. I would say over all 1-10 I would give 7 .

This location worked well for us, it was a quiet spot at the end of a cul de sac. Could use some cleanup around the property and upgrades inside. Had a smell when we first arrived but we got used to it?! # of beds was perfect for 2 families. Lots of appliances for the range of kids ages too.

The house worked fine. The room with twin beds needs a door or knee wall. Would have liked a cookie sheet and cutting knives. The pillows could be upgraded. The location, lighted dock and fire pit we great features that all enjoyed.

We had 5 adults and 2 children in our group, and we never felt cramped. There was plenty of space for all of us. This location is perfect - nestled amongst the trees to give some shade to the deck, with a pathway that leads directly to the water. The pier was great to lay out and sunbathe, and perfect for the kids to do some fishing. They caught their first fish and a few more after that! We loved using the kayaks and sitting near the little beach. The pier was perfect for catching the sunset. Stores are just a 10-15 minute drive away if you forget to bring something or want to get a quick bite. We were able to fit 3 cars in the driveway with no issues. There was a plumbing problem our first morning, but the owners were very responsive and we were able to get it fixed without any hassle. Neighbors were very friendly as well, even took the kids (with their parents) on a boat ride before dinner - the kids loved it! We would definitely come back and recommend this to others!
