Ancient forest dragons, kangaroos and birds can be seen at different times of the day around the property and from the house itself. The creek provides electricity and fresh water to the property. The generation of 24/7 hydro-electricity and permanent supply of spring fed water comes from LIttle Cooper Creek, which runs through the middle of Stonewood Retreat, and originates from a source high up on Thornton Peak, the third highest mountain in Queensland. The retreat is situated amongst two World Heritage areas - the Daintree Rainforest, and the Great Barrier Reef, sitting in mountains sloping down to the coastal strip that are covered in the oldest continuously surviving tropical rainforest in the world. The house is comfortable and modern with elements of rustic design. Open spaces that welcome the outside in, offer views of the rainforest from every corner of the house. The open plan design allows the sun to spill in from every angle while filtering through the cool of the forest.
