The room was very nice and the bed super comfortable, which was a not often the case on my trip to Poland (most beds super soft). I had acces to a large kitchen and good bathroom with even a washing machine. However the best was the owner who is indeed really super kind and helpfull and a perfect host. He had just a few customers in the offseason and instead of putting us all together he spread us all over the building. As a result we all had private bathrooms and kitchens. He had more cleaning to take care of but chose to give us space and privacy. I mean, who does that? He has bikes for rent which is very practical as the bike rental in town is quite far.
The only small minus is that the location is a bit out of town. However you can still walk from the bus or trainstation and there is Bolt. I would definitely choose this place again.

Byłem tylko na jedną noc przed ultramaratonem kolarskim. Rower można było bez dodatkowej opłaty przechować pod dachem. Było czysto. Wyposażona kuchnia. Przesympatyczny pan właściciel.

OK. As a Polish-American living in Warsaw for 10 years, I've had a LOT of Warszawians tell me about Suwalki. Usually by wincing and saying, Gdzie jest? Lietvia?
And to those fine people I say ballyhoo and balderdash. Suwalki is AWESOME and the Hostel Texas is the place to be. It's tucked away on a quiet street literally a 10-minute walk from the train station, and I'm pretty sure if Pee Wee's Playhouse was updated to modern-day Mazury it would look a bit like this. Friendly beyond compare. And the facilities themselves... spotless. Huge room. Quiet nights, pine-scented breezes, and an easy walk thru the charming downtown to the awesome Sensory Park and city beach.
I promised Jarek this review, and to return next year with my daughter as well. My great-grandparents walked these streets years ago, and now I understand why. It feels like home.
