This beautiful property with its unique history was the perfect backdrop for a family gathering/celebration. We had dinner reservations at Banner Elk but other than that we stayed put, enjoying the amenities of the home and grounds - beautiful porches for gathering, nooks for reading, and the game room for pool and dominos. The addition with its well-equipped kitchen and master suite blended into the historic section seamlessly. First class without losing its warmth and charm.

Beautiful location, an old mill with a new addition located at the end of a dirt road. Loved the nature that surrounded us. We enjoyed the view from the kitchen and snowball fights in front and around the house. The building consists of an old 3-story (plus basement pool room) structure and one newer addition. The new area is beautiful and has a great feel to it. The view from the kitchen and living / dining room area is what was the best in the place. One large master bedroom, a half bath and full bath with a steam room in the shower that we loved. The old area is very old and the higher you go up the mustier the smell. I would not sleep here ever again. The basement with the pool table smells heavy from mold too. The electricity went out our first evening as we tried to plug in the heaters upstairs and we had no power in that area (two bedrooms and a bathroom) for 3 nights (out of the 5 we booked it for). Communication was tedious and very slow as this house is not rented by owner and not even by the property manager but by a national agency, called Vacasa. So contacting Vacasa, Vacasa contacting the property manager, and the manager trying to contact all types of local people who could help us out was very annoying - not what you expect when you want to relax. Getting them to agree and issue a partial refund took a month of texts, calls, messages and another 3 weeks for the check to arrive. The place was massively overpriced for what it is and the communication and awful customer service made it even worse. I will never ever do business with Vacasa.

What a shame
What a shame
Beautiful property. Sadly the local mgmt company was horrible. Trash was left inside and all over the place outside. They came to clean it up but only picked up a diaper and plate and left all the other trash including the inside trash that smelled. They never came back even though we asked them to a few times. Air filters hadn’t been changed in.. ever maybe. Gross. No felt on any of the pool sticks so bring your own or you can’t play. A chair collapsed in half that was already broken when my daughter sat in it. Glass panes were left laying around as well as long fluorescent light bulbs. Not kid friendly. Also no drain plug for bath tub so couldn’t bath the kids. Only bad review I’ve written in my life. Sad bc this property is really unique and could be five stars if just a little effort was made.

Awesome house very closer to beech mountain for skiing. Large and very unique home with 4 levels - lots of space for people to spread out. Kids and teens loved the lower level hang out area with pool table and card table. Kitchen is huge - plenty of room to cook for a large group. The location is gorgeous - couldn’t be better. We had a maintenance issue but the management company jumped right in and got it taken care of as soon as possible. They stayed in close contact with us until the problem was resolved. We can’t wait to go back in the summer and enjoy this beautiful home again.
