You’ll love the relaxed, welcoming feel of this spacious country home with its wraparound deck and hot tub with some views, through the trees, of the Sacramento River. Built for comfort and convenience rather than flash, “Frankie’s” is all about space, warmth, and togetherness—perfect for large groups, family gatherings, and kids.
With two floors and an expansive deck surrounded by tall pines, guests can spread out or come together naturally. The large living room features a rock fireplace, flat-screen TV, and sliding doors leading to the deck for BBQs and relaxing under the trees. The kitchen is designed for entertaining, complete with a wine fridge, keg cooler, and everything needed for family meals, game days, or weekend fun.
Downstairs includes two bedrooms and two full baths—one with a king bed and heated floors, the other with a queen. Upstairs, you’ll find two more bedrooms, a half bath, and a cozy family room with a large TV—an ideal hangout for kids or late-night movies.
Located in a quiet North Dunsmuir neighborhood, the home is just minutes from the City Pool, Botanical Gardens, and great local dining at The Dunsmuir Brewery Works and Yaks. The area also offers excellent fishing spots, swimming holes, and easy access to The Fly Shop.
Please note: a train passes along the river below, so light sleepers may want to bring earplugs. Up to two dogs are welcome with a pet fee ($40 per pet per stay). The hot tub is included and ready for you to unwind under the stars.

Overall a great place to stay. Our group of 6 adults had plenty of room to spread out and come together (for meals and game play).We only had one minor complaint. Several of the bedroom doors did not latch. This was a problem because one of our dogs is very food driven and was able to enter the room of our other dog and steal food. Not a major complaint but latching doors would be nice.We loved the Dunsmuir/Mt. Shasta area. Lots of great hiking and beautiful scenery.The hot tub worked beautifully and was enjoyed by all!

The property is a wooded lot with good privacy, a covered carport. We enjoyed the porch and the sitting area in the backyard had some good views of the trees and the Sacramento river, which was unfortunately inaccessible because of a steep hill and private property at the bottom of the hill. The beds were very comfortable. The linens and towels were clean. The shower and tub were a little small. We found this property to be close to many of the things we were interested in. there is a railroad track that runs alongside the Sacramento river and trains come down this track quite frequently and they do blow their horns.

Franke's Retreat was even better than it appears in the Vrbo photos. Franke's was roomy, comfortable, and came with a surprising amount of amenities. We loved the hot tub, the kitchen, and the heated floors in the bathrooms. We also took advantage of the dens (both upstairs and downstairs) and the grill on the deck. The location was also fantastic. You're around 5-15 minutes away from everything in the Dunsmuir area (golf, Castle Crags, Mossbrae Falls, etc.). The Upper Sacramento is just down the hill, and overall a really beautiful, quiet (except for the trains), scenic area. I would highly recommend!
