Every Monday morning is market day in San Casciano where you can shop for the freshest produce, meats, fish, and flowers. Be sure to sample the wonderful array of local extra virgin olive oils and honey too. San Casciano has a large supermarket, and numerous small shops if you prefer, such as a butcher, fruit and vegetable shops, post office, bank, gas station. There are numerous good restaurants, pizzerie, a public swimming pool and public tennis courts as well. The village of Cerbaia, about six miles from San Casciano, has the distinction of having one of Italy's most celebrated, and expensive, restaurants, La Tenda Rossa. It is one of the handful of restaurants in all of Italy to receive a remarkable two stars from in the revered Michelin Red Guide! Just beyond Cerbaia is Montespertoli, famous for its red wines. You won't forget for a minute that you're in the heart of Chianti. Keep going in the direction from San Casciano towards Florence and you'll find a great cafe in the tiny village of Santa Andrea in Percussina. This property is exactly as described in the listing.
It's an updated, very well maintained, centuries old home in a lovely, quiet, peaceful spot in the beautiful Tuscany countryside - exactly what we'd hoped for.
Francesco was a welcoming host who helped us as needed, made restaurant recommendations, etc. Much appreciated.
The location was great, making it very easy to take day trips (of 1 hour or less) to surrounding sites. We especially liked the close-by town of San Casciano in Val di Pesa, and all it had to offer.
We strongly recommend this property to others!

Francesco is a fabulous host. the property is gorgeous, fun, relaxing, welcoming and the perfect location to see all of Tuscany. close drive to restaurants, cities, vineyards and great Tuscan vistas. Francesco's tour advice, better than any tour guide!!! would highly recommend staying here for a perfect Tuscany location.

Francesco may have been the best host we have had in our 20+ years visiting Italy. The location can be challenging to drive in but the beauty of the surroundings are worth it. The setting is idyllic. Very centrally located to so many places. Great restaurants.

The house was clean with comfy beds and great bathrooms. The owner was great to work with and gave us lots of good tips on where to eat and find markets. The property is farther out of town than anticipated but an easy drive to Florence. It is on the wrong side of the mountain range for the Chainti Classical wine trail but we still found great wineries and wonderful food. If you like being in the countryside with the perfect Tuscan view you will love this property.

If you are looking for an authentic villa in the wine country this is it! Beautiful views, nice accommodations. Finding it the first time was a bit of a challenge since our flight was delayed and we didn’t arrive In Florence until 23:30. This property is best to find in the light , if possible. From here we visited Lucca, Volterra and San Gimignano. There were local villages where food and groceries were available. The owners were very responsive and ready to help.

Francesco was a fantastic host. His property was beautiful and well maintained. The villa had all the modern conveniences you would want without sacrificing the authenticity of a Tuscan villa. The views of the vineyard and olive trees were beautiful. I highly recommend this villa and we will return for our next visit.

Beautifully restored farm house. Great attention to detail. Very comfortable for 6 adults. Great kitchen for fixing a meal if you want to not eat out all the time. The lack of air conditioning turned out not to be a problem, as the house stayed cool during the day, and had great breezes at night. Temps during our visit were in the mid 90’s. Francesco was a great host. Would definitely recommend this property.

Beautiful property not conveniently located
The property has a beautiful view of the wine country. Nice outside patio for eating ( we couldn't use because it rained almost every day we were there. The greeter was very responsive and helpful. The biggest negative is the property is 20 minutes on one lane roads away from the nearest town to get a coffee in the morning. Still an enjoyable stay as a base to visit Siena and some nice wineries in the area.

Perfect place to stay in Tuscany great surroundings and easy access to everything.
There were four of us staying here and thoroughly enjoyed the villa and surrounding area. The villa was spacious, clean and comfortable. Francesco and his mother were delightful and Francisco spoke perfect English. He was very helpful with where to shop, eat and visit wineries.

The home and the property were lovely and peaceful.
We arrived there late afternoon and we immediately felt relaxed. Francesco's mom welcomed us. After spending some days in Florence this was for me the best part of our trip. Being in nature here and having a beautiful comfortable home is a great way to experience Italy. We toured places during day ( Sienna etc.) and being able to return to such an oasis was awesmome. I would love to come again in future.

Very nice stay!
We had a very nice friends weekend in Tuscany. Francesco and his mother were great hosts and very helpful during the initial meeting. Close to Antinori, Corzano e Paterno, and other vineyards.

Perfect location for exploring Chianti region.
We arrived at the location by a rented car quite late in the evening, in the dark. Although we knew from the beginning that location is kind of remote and access is done by a very narrow lane, driving to Casa San Vito was very challenging.
Once arrived there, around 11 pm, our greeter Francesco was patient enough to make us familiar with the property. He was very explanatory and helpful giving us lots if hints & advises on what to do/visit, what not to miss, and even what not to do in such a short stay.
Te next day we realized how magnificent the landscape is. It’s the perfect location for exploring Chianti area with its beauties: history, culture, wineries, gastronomy, and not last its inhabitants-really nice and charming people.
Casa San Vito, although a 200 yrs old construction, meets all 5 stars comfort requirements. The only feature that misses is the air conditioning, but believe me it was not a must even in middle August.
The wide courtyard by the house made us spending late nights outside. There’s a grill that we used also.
The house is furnished with genuine old furniture, yet very practical. The whole house (furniture, decoration) leaves the impresion of GENUINE, original. In the same time, the propery is well equipped: fridge, gas oven, all needed in a modern kitchen.
Every morning was really enchanting seeing breathtaking landscapes thru the windows: hills with vine and olive trees.
Again, we wouldn’t had such a nice vacation without Francesco’s advises.
We strongly recommend for people looking to discover what Tuscany is all about.

Amazing Visit to Tuscany
“Perfect Tuscany Chianti Vinyard-Wine Tasting” is a perfect description of our stay. We were there for two weeks and would have liked to stay longer. We would highly recommend Casa San Vito.

Beautiful Casa in the Chianti hills. Doesn’t get any better than having dinner on the patio here.
Beautiful Casa in Chianti. The scenery was breathtaking and the Casa was very comfortable. Francesco was a very gracious host.

Spacious, stylish rustic country retreat, well appointed with good facilities.
The accommodation was a spacious first floor apartment of a traditional Tuscan farmhouse. It has been sympathetically converted into a large airy Tuscan retreat with beautiful views from every aspect. All the bedrooms were furnished with beautiful traditional antique furniture. Terracotta tiling throughout All the beds were extremely comfortable. The bathrooms were modern and worked well . The kitchen served us very well and we cooked both inside and out, utilising outdoor seating, tables, sunbeds and umbrella. This was a lovely rural retreat reached via a country road with a very convenient small but well stocked local store/cafe/bar in nearby Romita. Francesco, the owner was attentive and responsive to any enquiry we had.

Perfect Location
We stayed in Casa San Vito in mid-September for a week. We were welcomed by Mama who spoke no English, but somehow she taught us to use the washing machine, the dishwasher, the rolling screens, the oven, and the stove. She then made us an espresso so we could learn to use the espresso maker. It got even better after that! The house sits on a hill in the country with amazing views in all directions. Only a few minutes and an easy bus ride away from Florence, we did not have to fight the traffic. We spent quite a few days exploring the wineries in the Chianti region. We explored Volterra, San Gmignano, and even Pisa. The house was well equipped with three bedrooms, two baths, a wonderful country kitchen, and a living room. I happily endorse Casa San Vito as a great property.

Great vacation
We flew into Florence and stayed the night. We then drove to San Casciano, did a little walking around then drove to Casa San Vito. For the average European I’m sure the road in front of the Casa was a typical country road but for someone from North America it was a not much above a farm lane. Partially paved in front of the houses, but the rest was rough gravel with rocks exposed. Not what we had envisioned. Driving at night back to the Casa was not for the faint of heart, or the typical North American driver. I must also mention that there was a cheese factory at the end of the lane, so there was a constant flow of traffic starting first thing in the morning and onto the night.
Now having said that, we had a great experience at the Casa. We did our sightseeing in the morning and afternoon, picked up groceries on the way home and had terrific home made dinners. As a matter of fact we made friends with the guests staying in the Casa Rosa next door, meeting them for drinks after dinner and actually inviting them for one of our dinners. This is not an experience you will get staying in a B&B or a hotel.
The casa was very clean, with a well appointed kitchen and even a charcoal grill on the premises. We had a table and chairs on the outdoor patio for the warm evenings and a nice sitting area in the house for the cooler evenings. The sitting area accommodated 6 people without any difficulties. The kitchen had a medium size fridge, gas stove, electric oven and even a dishwasher. The table easily accommodated 6 people. There was also a washing machine in the Casa should you need it.
This was a great location for sightseeing, within driving distance of Siena, Greve, Radda, San Gimignano and Volterra.
The Casa was located on a hill providing a lovely view of the vineyards and farms of the surrounding country side. A postcard picture view from any of the windows in the Casa. We wanted to experience Tuscany as a local not a tourist and we certainly got it

Beautiful Tuscany
Casa San Vito was the perfect place for our family while vacationing in the Tuscany region. Beautiful views. Private. Central location to Florence, Siena, San Gimingnano.... Our host, Francesco, was friendly, helpful with suggestions on sites to see and area festivals we could attend. Very accommodating when we had to check in earlier than the stated arrival time. Even though the weather was hot, the villa stayed cool and at night when the temperatures cooled, we opened all the windows (all had screens) and had a comfortable night's sleep. Our villa was spotlessly clean, plenty of room (we were 7 of us), nicely decorated. Had dinner out on our patio and took in the rolling hills and vineyards. Absolutely beautiful!

lovely spot. Convenient to area we wanted to visit.
The villa was lovely, so was the countryside. Nice yard for children to play . Fransico was very helpful and congenial. Was disappointed with some hidden costs that were not clear up front. Also, the fireplace was not ready to be used and we missed the warmth. We had to pay more for heat. Internet was very undependable. Had few days when we could access the web and family.
We really liked the place, but there were some kinks that need to be worked on.
