About this house rental

Nestled in Cushing, this lovely house for $293 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Driftwood Our calendar is updated in real-time & our nightly rates are accurately displayed. Simply enter your desired dates and click 'Book Now!' Driftwood is one of those places - both in form and function - that feels distinctly Maine. Maybe it’s the pristine waterfront location at the end of a winding, private road just a mile or two from Port Clyde. Or perhaps it’s the way the house itself feels, thanks to an abundance of windows, clean lines, and a true sense of peace and quiet. Whatever it is, Driftwood is everything a stay in Maine should be. A full deck overlooking the vast, saltwater St. George River makes this space as comfortable for two people as it is for six. The first floor is more or less an open-concept space, with a comfortable living room that flows easily into the dining area with seating for six. Access to the front deck is right here as well, where you'll find plenty of outdoor seating, a grill, and just about the nicest views you could ever want at any time of day. The galley-style kitchen includes a full-size gas stove and a dishwasher, and it's well-equipped for meal preparation. The primary bedroom is also on this floor, tucked away at the back of the house in a sunny, spacious spot. Upstairs, find two more bedrooms, both of which are bright and sunny with beds close to the windows, so you can hear the water lap on the shore as you fall asleep. The shore is easily accessible by a well-worn path - the owners of Driftwood report this area is just right for kayaking and paddleboarding. The villages of Port Clyde and Tenants Harbor are both within a few minutes' drive, with Sandy Drift Inn Beach minutes away as well. We loved the "end of the road" solitude and the tranquil view.

Nice home in a beautiful location, but . . . Do the owners know how the property managers are caring for it? This is a nice home with a lovely view of the bay. It was nicely decorated with lots of amenities like books about the area, a record player, binoculars, kitchen supplies (Actually so many that it was hard to find things in haphazard drawers and pantry.) . . . But the house was only surface clean. If you looked in the corners or along the baseboards there was dirt, mildew, cobwebs and dead insects. One upstairs bedroom smelled of mildew and moth balls. We had to crack the windows all the time and buy a deodorizer. There were layers of dust and cobwebs on windows, the mantle, lights, picture frames, . . . Do the owners (or management service) know this is how the cleaning service is doing their job? When we arrived there was water in front of the washing machine. Boards had rotted on the deck. One was replaced while we were there with a short board that was a tripping hazard. Another was left with nails protruding out as another hazard. When we did call the management service, they acted like they cared, but never really took care of our requests. We honestly believe that the owners are proud of their home and should be. The problem is that they are either not there or do not see how it is being managed and cared for. This review is for the owners because they have a lovely spot, but a home that is gradually falling into disrepair due to lack of care.

The house is well situated at the end of a long drive through the woods. It's got a great deck, great view and everything one could need in the kitchen. The fireplace is a nice bonus. It's a compact footprint which worked well for 4 adults. Port Clyde and Thomaston are both great towns nearby. My only request would be for more towels to be left out for guests.

The home was as pictured, clean and well appointed. We saw harbor porpoises, eagles, loons, a seal and lots of lobster boats from the deck. It is the last house on a private drive, so it is incredibly quiet.

We had terrible weather all week, but even when we were stuck inside the cottage kept us entertained. There's a record player and decent vinyl collection, books of local interest, and games. Even toys for the dog! The long dirt road is great for morning runs/walks (bring bug spray, lots of mosquitos in the woods). The deck overlooks the water, and is a great place for a morning coffee or evening glass of wine (surprisingly no mosquitos on the deck!). Port Clyde is very close with good coffee, ice cream, general store and really good waterfront seafood restaurant.

Great house, well equipped and amazing view! Our stay was in Nov so it was very quiet and nearby restaurants were closed for the season. This suited us fine as we brought all our food and made some great meals to share with our adult kids
