Volker is located on the west side of Midtown Kansas City, Missouri on both sides of the West 39th Street business district. The neighborhood is just west of Westport, a mile northwest of the Country Club Plaza, and three miles south of Downtown. Prominent sites in and around Volker include the Restaurant Row on 39th, Roanoke Park, William Volker’s Roselawn estate, several churches, KU Medical Center, and more. There is a diversity of architecture representing the entire history of the city – bungalows, shirtwaists, colonnade apartment buildings, and several more modern styles sprinkled throughout. The Volker neighborhood is an eclectic mix of housing, people, and lifestyles. Housing styles range from turn-of-the-century “Kansas City style” shirtwaist and four-square styles, to modest single-family bungalows and multi-story, brick colonnade apartment buildings of the 1920’s, to ranch style, infill housing of the 1950’s. Vibrant small businesses line 39th Street West and Westport Road on the neighborhood’s southern border. With its numerous restaurants, music, clothing and book stores so close by, walkability is one of the most attractive features of Volker. Guests can access the entire property, the front driveway, and yard (not fenced in). We weren't really there that long. Arrived at 7 pm and left the next morning at 6am. Short stay but the unit had everything we needed close to the event. We would stay again if we are back for the next race.

Fun and unique space in a container house. Had a great stay. The property is as described and shown in the photos. The host, while available seemed overly cautious. Many rules even rules that conflicted between the information in the guideline book provided in the house. I was in Kansas City to celebrate a milestone birthday by myself (which the host knew ahead of time), however I felt like I was being treated like an 19 year old who was coming to party and wreck the place. I’m 55. Will stay again and hopefully host service improves. Thanks.

The place was awful. We stood in the dark trying to get in after given the wrong code. There we're pubic hairs on the shower curtains, in one of the beds and on the couch. Dead ants in a bed, water didn't drain on guest shower, mold on the shower curtain, filthy couch and rugs, mold on kitchen window, gross black stuff on intake grill in kitchen. The site said there was a washer and dryer...not there. We had nowhere to sit because of the uncleanness. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The lawn was so overgrown that there were dandylions about 10 inches high. I could go on and I have pictures to back it up.

Very cool little property. Great place to crash, lots of space for people to sleep. Two full bathrooms. Very quiet neighborhood. There were some improvements that could be made - blackout curtains were paper thin, if you moved them at all it felt like you were going to rip them down. I’d also say bring your own toilet paper, it was stocked with single ply. Again, great place to crash. Totally updated and new.
