Welcome to Sunset Sanctuary — a coastal retreat designed to calm the mind and recharge the spirit. Perched above the Pacific on the Crescent City bluffs, this is a place where the ocean is never out of sight or earshot.
Light a fire in the wood stove, pour something warm, and watch the sun melt into the sea from the deck. Gray Whales migrate past seasonally, and Pilot Whales cruise these waters year-round — keep your eyes on the horizon.
Beach access is just a block away, where a short walk leads down to Preston Island — a dramatic rocky shoreline with sandy stretches perfect for a stroll with your pet (who we’re always happy to welcome). For swimming and surfing, Crescent Beach is a easy 5-minute drive.
The old-growth redwoods of Jedediah Smith are 30 minutes inland. The harbor, restaurants, coffee, and everything else you’ll need are within 10 minutes. And when the day is done, the wood stove, the sound of the waves, and a sky full of stars will be waiting for you.
One more thing — you’ll notice a vintage Airstream parked on the property. She’s stationary and being lovingly restored as an optional guest add-on launching Autumn 2026. Something special is coming.

We absolutely loved this gem of a home! It was super clean, well stocked with anything and everything we needed, Shawn was very responsive and helpful. And THE VIEWS! Mornings and sunsets on the back porch were my favorite part. Easy access to all the beauty of the Redwoods. We didn’t want to leave and would love to come back someday.

Sunset Cottage is a beautiful place. it is well supplied, clean with a magnificent view of the ocean! We loved the sun filled rooms and having use of the record player.We were able to access three state and national parks for khiking.

Amazing ocean view, cute vintage cabin, everything was clean (if older, which matched the vintage beach house aesthetic very nicely). The porch had unparalleled sunset ocean views and the location was great for both beach access and getting to explore the redwoods
