Walking and bike trails are available from the door step while there are numerous selections of day trips to Inverness, the Moray Firth for dolphin watching or Whisky and Castle trails. All in all it is a superb location from which to explore the Scotland’s fascinating culture and history. There are wonderful opportunities for all types of outdoor recreation including the renowned Aviemore ski resort, mountain biking (bikes can be hired locally), pony trekking and good access to local walks including the Speyside Way. There are superb opportunities for wildlife watching including Ospreys at the RSPB Abernethy Forest Reserve on the shore of Loch Garten; Cappercailie can also be seen if you are an early riser. There is a local bird hide at Milton Loch, Boat of Garten.
