Wonderful stay!! This will be our first choice next time we come back to Milwaukee. Only TINY complaint is the comforter was a bit thin, not at fluffy, but that’s just a personal preference.

One of the best hotel experiences I have ever had! The facility is so nice and has so much to do in a short walking distance.

This is a very nice place, unique, and quiet.

Nice location; disappointing in terms of the lack of amenities, furnishings and the Gulden room was not open during the duration of our four day stay. Would not book this property again.

We loved this hotel! It’s so beautiful and extremely quiet. It’s in a great location. We would definitely stay here again!

The room we stayed in was quite large, perfect for overnight girl’s weekend for 4. I wish the cafe/bar downstairs was open so that we had a place to hang after dinner but Taylor’s was just a few blocks away for night cap. The easy parking at the back was convenient but the $25 price tag was too much since I already paid hefty service fee for no lobby service and amenities. Also, there is a strong odor (?dead animal) coming from the basement so better to enter from the front when you can. The lake is very close

Dubbel Dutch was a very disappointing hotel.
First, parking. There are 14 rooms and only 7 reserved parking spaces, so be prepared to park on the street. Parking on the street in this part of MKE is extremely difficult. What's strange is that there is a giant lot right next to the hotel, but you can't park there. You'd think the hotel would make arrangements with that lot to provide overflow parking for guests.
Second, daylight flooding the room. Our room (306) had a blocked-off upstairs, but obviously they didn't think of covering the windows up there, so there is a ton of light in the morning. The blinds on the main windows were also woefully inadequate.
Third, inability to control the temperature very well. There were instructions to override the lockout, but it didn't work.
Fourth, the noise. I get that it's a historic property, but the floors creak terribly, and you will hear every guest move in the corridors and stairs.
Fifth, the narrow stairwells and no elevator. I'm sure it says somewhere on the website that there is no elevator, but it's not obvious when you book. Hauling your family's luggage up to the 3rd floor is not fun.
Sixth, the bed. Sags in the middle. Billed as a King but it's not.
If those things matter to you, avoid this place.
On the positive side, it's a cool historic building in a beautiful neighborhood, which gives you the ability to walk anywhere downtown and even to the 3rd Ward.
I won't be staying there again.

Lovely atmosphere at this old hotel. The seamless checkin was a first but the bar staff and online communication helped…. Comfy room but missed creams for room coffees. Convenient parking too/nice bath!

The Dubbel Dutch is a beautiful home, our room was perfect and bright, and spacious for three people and a dog to move about. I hope to stay there again!

A thoughtful reuse of a historic building. Guest rooms and bathrooms are very spacious with tall ceilings. Loved the small touches like reusable glass bottle of filtered water in the room and local, organic toiletries including a bath bomb. Beautiful coffee shop and bar. We will be back.

Staff were not very friendly or accommodating. Asked about parking and they weren't very helpful, but wanted to have me park in their lot, when street parking was free.
The person in the coffee shop was very friendly and pleasant.

Great spot that will not stay under the radar for long, if it still is. Better alternative to the chain alternatives at this price point. Good coffee bar when you leave in the morning, and the otherwise contactless check in / check out was super convenient.

Stayed at Dubbel Dutch for 2 nights. Had a great room, very nicely decorated. The code access for the building and room worked well and staff were very responsive by text and email. Would definitely stay there again.

Great experience! They let me drop off my bag early and moved it to my room. Online check in was easy. Location is walkable to a lot of neat spots. The style of the building and room was unique and refreshing. I would absolutely recommend checking it out.

Great location, amazing room and the building, effortless check-in process.

The style of the decoration is excellent. And it is very close to the art museum. If you ride bikes, it takes you 5 minutes to get to the museum and the lakeside walk.

Aesthetically pleasing and distinctive--spare, modern, but also warm and historic--and squeaky clean. Beautifu bathroom! Great vibe and a comfortable stay.

Charming but there is no staff. You are sent a code for the room and front door. That's it. There is no one to contact in person for any issues. Parking should be included.
Great location, cute rooms, quiet neighborhood. Loved the restaurant across the parking lot- Buckleys

Realizing the hotel is really trying to get off the ground I somewhat understand why some of my issues were issues. Furniture in room was very sparse. No dresser? One 1/2 roll of toilet paper? Two sheets of tissue left in box of really harsh facial tissue? Battery powered candles in fireplace were dead? Disappointed no feather pillows were available? They did give us "no charge" parking in their lot but I did notice others just pulling in and parking for free? Coffee/bar people were really nice and products were great.
The Swatztikas in the entry way (from 1897) were an interesting visual?
Overall I'd give it a c+
