My wife and I were traveling to the Vaishno Devi Temple and decided to stay for one night at Shivdhaar Estate in Kud, Patnitop. It turned out to be one of the best homestay experiences we’ve ever had.
The property is beautiful, peaceful, very clean, and well maintained. The hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home.
The food was absolutely delicious. We especially loved the authentic Kashmiri Dum Aloo and Rajma Curry, all freshly prepared. It’s a pure vegetarian homestay, and every meal was full of homemade flavors.
One of the highlights of our stay was the village and farming experience. We enjoyed picking fresh strawberries with our host, Pulkit, and even got to experience milking a cow and tasting fresh organic milk for the first time. It was truly memorable.
Oreo, the friendly dog, made our stay even more special. The staff were polite, helpful, and always ready to assist with a smile.
We would definitely love to come back for a longer stay and highly recommend Shivdhaar Estate to anyone visiting Patnitop or Vaishno Devi.

Excellent vegetarian food. Outstanding hospitality. The host goes out of his way to make you comfortable.
They have desi cows and organic gardens.
The place is very authentic. It has a strong identity and character.
I just wish I could have spent more days there. On my next trip for sure.

The level of service experienced was remarkably akin to that of 5-star homestay in the country.
Although the staff might not possess the same level of formal education, their genuine warmth and exceptional hospitality are truly unparalleled. The rooms are impeccably clean and well-maintained, while the cuisine is not only delicious but also served piping hot. The breathtaking views and fantastic location add to the overall allure. All in all, it was an incredibly gratifying experience.
The food was exceptionally good, offering a delightful culinary experience. The view is nothing short of picturesque, especially from the forest-facing balcony, which adds an extra touch of beauty. It's worth mentioning that the founder of the homestay exudes a down-to-earth demeanor, which only adds to the positive impression.

I was looking for a silent, comfortable and a super lazy vacation with my family. It’s the best homestay if you are looking to unwind and disconnect. The staff is amazing, the views are absolutely breathtaking, especially the changing climate in Monsoon. Must thank Rakesh & Kaushalya for being so helpful, kind, and treating us more like family than guests.
They even packed us breakfast as we were leaving early in the morning, without having to even ask. Such hospitality is truly rare.
