Little House of Horrors

Booked for two nights, left after one night. On arrival, it was clear the first image online was photoshopped as the reality of the exterior (hotel signage, lamppost heads, etc) was a bit different. Me and my wife both originally missed the entrance as we thought it looked a bit disused and dodgy. The member of staff at reception seemed pleasant enough. A little quiet maybe. Though he was possibly concealing his guilt at knowing where we were going to be staying. Corridors lit up as we passed through them revealing what I'm guessing was bleach stained carpets. Into our room, and if there wasn't a feeling of discomfort before, there was now. The thought of touching anything made our skin crawl. Carpets, drained of colour where you'd expect them to be due to being walked on, but there was also the bleach stained areas all around them too, near skirting boards, which wouldn't see any footfall. Odd. The walls were dirty. There looked like a wee streak of faeces high on the wall near the ceiling. Bathroom fixings were rusty. There's mould at the window frame. The view to the lake would've been nice if you could see past the dirt on the window. And there was hand prints on the wall near the tv, like someone was using it to support themselves while being rogered from behind. The whole scenario just made our skin crawl. It's the closest I'll ever get to staying in one of those seedy motels you see in american movies . At various times during the night there was someone outside our room trying our door handle. And there was also the occasional sound of someone trying to play a tuba. We later concluded that this was just the sound of the lift going up or down. There was also an odd smell which we couldn't quite place. I don't remember there being a duvet cover. And only 3 pillows provided for a booking of 2 people. In my opinion, greatly overpriced.

It was spacious and quiet and I had a lake view which was great.

Old in an emergency

Easy access to food - but not the food you want if you want to avoid a heart attack ;)

Lack of access to staff on front desk a lot of the time. No chair in the room so unable to use the desk for work. Windows filthy. No re-stocking of tea/coffee etc in the room. No bedside unit. Nobody coming around to collect rubbish from the rooms. "Double Bed" rooms but they were actually two single beds pushed together that came apart over a couple of days. Bath tub slippery as hell. Dangerous. Plumbing a bit iffy. Definitely a small from the plumbing. Previous occupants' wet towels present.

Did not stay because of the state of it

Hotel was absolutely disgusting and filthy dirty and after a maximum of 10 minutes of being there we decided not to stay because of the hygiene of the property including the repulsive smell

Not great. The proximity to site and price Inwas able to get were okay but doesn’t really make up for the bad points.

Location not far From site I was working at.

Lack of facilities. Nobody cleaning the rooms, Emptying bins, etc Advertised as double bed, when it is two singles pushed together. Lack of entertainment, only food available locally is the ridiculous expensive Thurrock services, and very little after 8pm (no access to food if you’re a midnight snacker or working unsociable hours) Plumbing is smelly and makes the room I stayed in last week smell. Wet towels from previous stay still chucked away in one corner of the room. Nobody topping up the tea and coffee, replacing bog roll, etc. No permanent presence on front desk.

Everything piss stained carpets no extra pillows no extra towels anything you ask for you can't get the young male receptionist doesn't want to do anything the female receptionist looks like she can't be bothered and her knowledge is non existent

Amazing would stay again

The room was nice and big and has Netflix which many other hotels don’t have.

Took us 30 minutes to check in and the man that checked us in was rude. The bathroom was dirty, it had marks everywhere and didn’t have a bin. The carpet was stained and two single beds one was higher than the other so was quite uncomfortable at times.

Very basic but beds are comfy

Rooms are comfortable and clean

Clearly a Travelodge previously, the hotel has been stripped of everything, nothing has been spent on giving the hotel a new image. Also the corridor carpets around the hotel are badly stained with what appears to be a mixture of bleach and most shockingly outside our room appeared to be blood. The result is the hotel looks very low budget and feels like it’s in the middle of a refurb but actually isn’t. Also strange to find items from different hotel brands all within the same room such as ibis hotels soap.

What we expected for a short overnight (room only) stop.

Location at a motorway services was what we wanted. Room was large and bed comfortable. There was a decent sized TV which was a plus.

No bedside tables or chair in the room. No coat hangers. Overlooked a waste disposal area.

Cheap, and well placed for Essex and North Kent.

Location was convenient for where we were going. and it was cheap.

Rooms were tired, No chair in the room so we could not work at the desk. One two pillows even though the room was booked for two people. Twice I went to ask for an extra pillow but there was no one at reception. Rubbish was in the corridoor when we arrived on Friday and still there on Sunday when we left.

Won't stay here again

Bed was so big,clean and comfy

It was so unclean. The bath was mouldy, the shower head was disgusting I wouldn't even have a bath or shower. Looking for a plug charger near the bed and I found a hard, mouldy Costa coffee sandwich behind the bed. So much dust everywhere. The room instantly smelt like cigarette smoke

We paid for sone friends to stay there - they said 'never again'' This place is so poorly designed - No proper entrance or signage No one in Reception when we arrived The corridors smelled dirty. This site and attached services have potential, but the hotel has been poorly designed and maintained. Very over-piced. No proper meals available in attached Services.
