Colorado River Lake guest house animal sanctuary

Did not know how to enter the front gate. Another patron (separate unit) was also waiting there. We contacted the host and someone came to the gate to let us in. The unit was clean and comfortable. Host got us a bag of pellets for the heater. It was a cold night and we were very comfortable. We walked down through the animal areas and enjoyed the petting the friendly goats, pigs, mini-horses, alpacas, and peacocks.

The place is overall cute and relatively affordable. The animals are all very friendly and the ground keeper Walter is super helpful. However, the place was not very clean, there were cobwebs in alot of the corners of the house, alot of bugs inside; especially mosquitoes (i would recommended taking something so you dont get bit), and dust on alot of the appliances. With that being said we would go back again and it was overall a good stay.

This was a extremely enjoyable stay. Walter was really nice and showed us around the property. This is a great place for family's. Thank you for the use of your home for our stay.

While this is a cute rental, our was a frustrating stay from the start.I had only read the main description and glanced at a few reviews for a last minute stay. I didn’t catch that this listing it’s attached to another rental, as it’s not listed in the description anywhere. The party in the main house also didn’t realize there would be others renters on site. Though they were kind, there was very little privacy as patio for this unit also serves as a pathway from the parking area to the backyard/main house kitchen patio and animal enclosures. That being said, we didn’t feel comfortable exploring the grounds in order to avoid encroaching on their space.I had to message the host twice for entry instructions, when I hadn’t seen anything come through 30 minutes ahead of our 4 pmcheck-in, as we were 30 minutes away from the property. I let them know both times we had early dinner reservations in GJ at 5. We finally heard back around 4:10, and even then weren’t given clear instructions on which part was ours or how to access the unit. When messaging the host she told me to call a number instead of giving instructions, then messaged a bit later asking when we would be checking in.There are no windows in this unit - only patio doors. Not all patio doors have working locks, and to secure them you need a dowel. If you want fresh air, you’re also getting a lot of traffic from other guests. Overall, the place is kinda clean, kinda cozy. But not quite as private or as advertised.
