We were forced to leave early because the septic was not working. Also 2 of the 3 fireplaces were not working. It could have been a great stay, but they need to address the problems.

Loved the interior of the house. Could not rent again because access to water is too difficult. Suggest investing in a better lower dock with actual stairs. Pool toys in bad shape and outdoor lounge chairs need cushions House itself is great but we had no TV in bedroom which we love having Also I am not from Irvine

Property manager was very attentive. The house was our favorite so far of our 4 trips to Lake Lure. The downstairs kitchen to deck set up was perfect. The teens loved jumping off the boat house . We rented a boat for a couple of days too. Green paddle board was awesome . Great house. We will be back

Great house, it’s nice to be right on the water. a lot of stairs from the vehicle to the house. Close to the grocery store and chimney rock. Great spot

Very nice property with plenty of room. We were very pleased.

I booked this house for our annual family vacation with my husband’s family. The house definitely has a lot of stairs but it’s so nice to be right on the lake!! It was also so nice to be able to dock our boat right there at the house. Overall our stay was great!

My husband and I just stayed here with our four kids (ages 4-12) and my MIL, and we all had a great time!!
The train is a fun way to send all your luggage down to the house (there are a LOT of stairs).
We’ve rented a lot of vacation homes, and this was the cleanest one we’ve ever stayed at- it was spotless!
The beds were comfy and the two masters had relaxing views of the cove. Each bedroom has its own spacious bathroom.
The lowest level, where the living room and kitchen are, was a bit dark and a bit crowded for our big group, but the screened-in porches with ceiling fans offered space to spread out into. The kitchen had everything we needed for easy cooking and the appliances are top-notch!
The property manager, Kathleen, was very friendly, helpful, and responsive when we had questions.
Plenty of towels, and also lake towels were provided! We spent a lot of time in the water with the kids, and the cove is a quiet, safe place to swim. The stand up paddle boards were a lot of fun, and there was also a large assortment of inflatable toys that the kids loved.
I had Verizon service at the house. This house is so close to Ingles and we also enjoyed a lunch at The Highlands restaurant (a few minutes’ drive away). Lake Lure Adventure Company is right around the corner if you want to rent a boat. We also walked around to the other side of the cove and enjoyed delicious dessert at the restaurant of The Lodge on Lake Lure.
We can’t wait to go back!

It was so easy and convenient to rent this property. The manager Kathleen is great and added a personal touch to make sure we had all the info. An awesome home to enjoy. We will be back.

We enjoyed the layout of the house and the fireplace in the rooms was a nice touch. Lake views also add a nice touch.
The house sits at bottom of the hill so be ready to walk down and up close to 100 steps, fortunately we are an athletic family so we didn’t mind the steps.
We had some minor issues that were resolved by Kathleen who was on sight.
We enjoyed Chimney Rock, we went zip lining at The Forge and great places to hike like Little Bradley Falls. We did a goat cheese tour and tasting at Round Mountain Creamery (recommended). We dinned at The Highlands-high end, Fish House-casual and La Strada- Italian.
Very nice home and location for a getaway.

We were very satisfied with the house. Very clean and all the amenities we needed. The fireplaces were very nice and especially the one in the bedroom. The steps to get to the house were a workout. We liked going down them better than up.

Very nice home. Lots of wonderful features. Highly recommend. Beautiful lake front, screen in porches, etc. Very nice.
However, fancy shower in main bedroom on 2nd floor did not drain well which distracted from an otherwise wonderful property. The concern is greater given that others have shared having the same issue based on online reviews.

We enjoyed our stay and it's a great location and property. The one thing to note is the house is down at the lake and there are a lot of stairs to climb (over 100). If you don't mind a little exercise you will love the property. My understanding is they are working on fixing the train or will be putting in a new lift.

Very nice, spacious home. Loved staying in one of the coves, much calmer, quieter access to water activities. We brought our small boat, quick drive from marina. With the train out during our stay ( which we knew way ahead of time) we used the boat to go to/from to avoid the steps. It worked out well. Will stay again 😊

Initial appearance of the home was good. It was well stocked and had some thoughtful, small touches inside. Location on the lake cove was fine and quiet as well. It was obvious the homeowners intended on helping guests feel comfortable which we appreciated. Unfortunately, those intentions were overshadowed by two external “selling points” of the house being non-functional. The train and slide. Also, as our trip progressed, other details emerged that had us questioning the standard of cleanliness and attention to detail from the maid service.
Although the listing said the train could be down on RARE occasions due to routine maintenance, we assumed “rare” meant pretty reliable so we took a chance but were disappointed when we arrived and it wasn’t working. An attached note stated an electrician would arrive the next day to fix it (which never happened). So, 106 stair steps later to unload (X’s 5, up and down), we finally settled in. Our kids, aged 10 and 8, immediately ran for the slide but stopped right away after seeing the obvious damage at the end of it. A large crack was very evident under several rounds of duct tape. The tape was clearly put in place as a quick fix but worn down just enough that the crack was showing through. The tape was also so thick it created a mound that would have been uncomfortable and dangerous to slide over at full speed. So the slide was off limits for the duration of our trip. Despite multiple attempts to reach the guest contact, no one answered or responded to our concerns so we gave up.
As our trip progressed, it was clear the maid service missed some detailed cleaning. The coffee maker had an old, dried up filter with coffee grinds splattered inside. There was dirt and dust under beds and behind doors and two shower drains were full of old hair causing water to pool around the drain (yes, we pulled out the hair in one). We went to do a laundry load and there was mildew and clumped, moldy buildup in the rubber around the inside of the washer. Lots of missed details.
Among these issues, we had a pretty substantial problem that ultimately required us to end our trip early. Because the issue was handled swiftly and appropriately by the Evolve and VRBO rental groups (different from our “guest contact” who was non-responsive), we will refrain from adding it to our review.
Clearly, it was not the trip we envisioned. The disappointments were so many that I doubt we’ll take a chance on this home again.

My family has been using VRBO homes for years - this one is the best! Everything in the home: bedding, bathrooms, kitchen, is high quality and top notch. We spent hours on the decks, swimming in the lake and grilling in the evening while enjoying the tranquility of the lake. The owners of this home have made this a vacation destination. Anyone looking into staying at Lake Lure - this is the house!!

First the positives...the house is as pictured, with the exception of it being much smaller than the pictures make it appear. It is clean and fairly well stocked. The location is great.
However this could be a 5 star home if only they could fix a few of the issues. We did email the management with a list. They did acknowledge our emails but never fixed any of the items. For example we had a broken blind, two shower faucet fixtures were falling off, a bathroom pocket door was not useable because it was stuck and a bathroom toilet flush handle was almost impossible to use.
Last but not least, unfortunately we left some items on the train/tram. We called 3 times and were told they would look at the surveillance videos and check with housekeeping to see if we could get our items. No one has reported back to us regarding this, Granted it was our fault for not checking this before we departed but sad to know someone has taken our things (wine and glasses).
Also we can't emphasize enough that you will need the train to be in working order for loading and unloading. There are 100 stairs that you need to climb to get to and from the house from the parking area. If not it would be a deal breaker.
All that being said, it is a nice house and in a good location. I would still recommend it.

This house has everything! The train to help with getting our belongings to the house was a very nice touch. They also have a slide that goes off the second floor into the lake! Soooo cool! My son(8 yrs old) and I discovered a HUGE float in the closet outside along with goggles! Literally had everything we needed to have a great time this weekend! We will definitely be back!

We had an exceptionally nice weekend at this home. The property is wonderful and the outdoor and screened spaces gave us several ways to relax as a family. We would absolutely recommend this location to families looking for a fun weekend in a friendly little cove on Lake Lure.

Water close. Swim from the deck. Also having life jackets was extra. Thank you
We will come back again.

Loved this Ruby Gem on Lake Lure. Very clean and updated. Perfect size for us. Train was a plus for hauling all our “stuff” up and down to the house and car

We have rented a few houses on Lake Lure over the years and this house was the best. Some had better views of the lake, but this house made up for that in accommodations. The rooms are spacious and modern with devoted bathrooms which can nicely accommodate multiple families. The house was spotless with modern appliances. We cooked every night we stayed, with the adults eating at the dining table and the kids on the deck. The great part was opening the back door and talking like we were all eating together. My kids could not get enough of the slide and the deep water behind the boat house allows them to jump without any worries. Available use of the train up and down the hill started our time away with a convenient one trip down to the house with all of our bags. It’s nice to walk up the stairs for a little exercise, but if you have members of your party that have trouble with that many stairs, the train is your savior. As a new listing, there were only a few rafts for the water. It would be nice over time for the owners to add a kayak/canoe and maybe a paddle board. Overall this was a very comfortable and relaxing house. You can’t go wrong with this one.

WOW! This beautiful lake house surpassed all our expectations.
The house was easy to find. The moment we pulled up, we spotted one of the most special things about the house – the train! It was so much fun to ride from the spacious parking area at the top of the hill down to the house. It definitely came in handy to get our luggage and groceries to the house from the car. We even noticed boaters on the lake drive by to get a glimpse of it. It was one of the many highlights of the trip.
This house has so much character and space. The pictures truly don’t do it justice. Our family was able to spread out and completely make ourselves comfortable and at home as soon as we walked in the door. Each bedroom has its own en suite which provided plenty of privacy. The house was spotless, perfectly clean and tidy from top to bottom. The beds were comfortable, and the sheets were extra soft! We appreciated the special touches such as the pack & play, highchair, and other baby items in the kitchen and the beach towels provided to use outdoors. Speaking of outdoors, there is so much outdoor space to enjoy. We caught several fish from the bottom deck, slid down the slide into the lake from the 2nd deck, and enjoyed a few rain showers from the screened in porches.
We only wish we could have made the weekend last longer! We can’t wait to plan another trip to this beautiful lake house.
