Quiet, peaceful, great breakfast and the host is awesome. We stayed there because it was close to a citizenship ceremony we were attending. Looking forward to return in the fall for bird photography.

Rancho Santa Cruz is a beautiful spot along the Anza Trail. The hosts do a beautiful job of providing a stay that is a perfect combination of a secluded getaway and a warm welcome among community. A delicious breakfast is included, served in good company. For groups, there are plenty of spots to gather, indoors and out. For birders and walkers, the direct access to Anza Trail behind the property is a major bonus. For all guests, it is really fun to enjoy views of hummingbirds and vermilion flycatchers from the comfort of the bench outside your room, under the portal. It is an easy hop into Tubac to have lunch or do some shopping, or to visit the Tubac Presidio historic site and museum or the Tucamacori Mission. Bonus for birders: there is a Hawk Watch International site in Tubac in the spring.
The only downside is that there is some highway noise. The highway here is the major produce channel from Mexico into the US in this area. The ranch is in a valley, so the noise reverberates between the two lines of mountains. This will be the case anywhere in the valley here. Fortunately, the rooms are fairly insulated and noise inside your room is minimal. Give it some time – the noise quickly becomes less noticeable, overridden by the delightful hosts and overall location.

We loved this beautiful and historic property. The grounds were delightful / loved the courtyard and covered walkways with benches. So may places to relax and watch birds. Rooms were very comfortable. Walking access to the Anza trail was a big bonus. Breakfast was very good!
Two suitcase holders would be a nice touch.
Cleaning of rooms could be a little more thorough.

Nice simple rooms. Not fancy but fitting for a former dude ranch. Very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious!
The dude ranch vibe was cool. Wish they could open the bar.
