About this house rental

Welcome to Davy House, a heritage home in the heart of Old Town, steps to the shops, bistros, & theatres that Niagara-on-the-Lake is known for. You would have the whole house and gardens to yourself (this is not shared). This is a minimum one month rental. Relax with a book in the Living room or Great Room, soak in the outdoor hot tub, or practice putting on the green. Hop on a bike and head to one of the dozens of local wineries. With Davy House waiting, your Niagara getaway will be everything you dreamed it could be and more. *We require the person to be making the booking to be present during the stay, and to be 20 years old or older* We are open to allowing retreats (yoga etc!) for up to 10 people. Formerly an award-winning Heritage Inn/Bed&Breakfast (converted now so you would have the whole house to yourself), Historic Davy House is now one of Niagara-on-the-Lake's most stunning private residences. Located steps from the restaurants and shops of Queen Street, just around the corner from the Shaw Festival, Davy House sits on one of Old Town's most tranquil streets, where the town's iconic Horse and Buggies seem to outnumber cars, and where the clip-clop of hooves and the tolling of church bells are the soundtrack of everyday life. Built approximately 150 years ago, the original Davy House was designed, in part, by a ship's captain who envisioned the Breakfast Room's expansive bay window as the bow of a ship. Virtually all of the major rooms in Davy House and the Breakfast Room overlook the most delightful garden imaginable, highlighted by a Koi Pond, waterfall, and an immaculate swath of green - Davy House's multi-hole Putting Green. Each of the bedrooms has an ensuite bath, many of them with heated floors, and all of the guest rooms have their own fireplaces and TV. At the original end of the house, a cozy Living Room with a fireplace features double French doors that overlook the charming covered veranda outside. In the newer addition, a spacious Great Room opens to the home's Inviting Hot Tub Pavillion. The 4th bedroom is a basement retreat with its own living room, King bed, and bathroom with shower. Guests have access to 4 of the bedrooms, the entire main floor, and the front, back, and side yard including parking for 3-4 cars. Guests do not have access to the master bedroom (upstairs), the laundry room, or the coach house. (These spaces are being used for storage). Covid rules apply (current to whatever the requirements are at the time of staying). There are many people who help maintain this home, expect them to be around during your stay (landscaper, garbage, maintenance, etc). We will do our best to ensure they work between guest stays or only when necessary. This is a quiet neighbourhood and NOT A PLACE FOR PARTIES. There are serious fines for any damages. We love animals, but we need the home to be in pristine condition so pets are not to use the yard for a bathroom (you can take them on a walk like living in an apartment requires). The putting green especially is to have no pets on it at any time.

We enjoyed this home for a family get together. We enjoyed the multiple entertaining spaces and it was walkable to the Niagara on the Lake shops and restaurants as well as a close drive or bike ride to dozens of wineries. The host was a great communicator and the owner was flexible with us when we asked to add an additional day. Honestly the best vacation rental we’ve ever rented.

We really enjoyed our stay as the house is beautiful and steps from the town. What we did not enjoy was being accused by the host that we damaged the bbq and threatened to pay damages. Given how much we paid to rent this property we felt insulted to receive an accusations email and a threat to pay damages. It’s completely unprofessional. Luckily we had photos of the bbq in the background as well as take out receipts to prove that we didn’t use it, or damage it. Also, the host expects you to run the dishwasher and put away the cleaned dishes prior to checking out. Totally unrealistic, not appropriate for the price point. I hope this review has the host change the check out instructions as well as their professionalism when renting out their property. We won’t be staying there again.
