About this villa rental

Welcome to Southern Cross On the Rocks - A peaceful and secluded villa nestled high atop Frenchman's Bay with breathtaking views from sunrise until sunset and beyond! Here you will find yourself constantly amazed by the stunning views of the sun and sea, the outlying islands, and ebb and flow of the ships and sailboats of Charlotte Amalie and Yacht Haven Grande. The awe inspiring light show the moon and stars perform for you every night and sounds of nature will keep you mesmerized in the comfortable outdoor living spaces built for relaxing and entertaining while absorbing the pure natural beauty of our US Virgin Islands. Beautifully maintained, decorated and furnished, this non smoking villa was designed, furnished and stocked for complete guest comfort and enjoyment. This is truly your home away from home. The main (upper) level has been completely renovated. The inviting living room is uniquely furnished and decorated with local art. The custom sliding doors allow a full view of the ocean and neighboring islands. It’s spacious and welcoming. The kitchen boasts a gorgeous waterfall counter, all stainless steel appliances, ice maker, dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave and oversized gas stove/oven. The cabinets are stocked for when you feel like a home cooked meal or just a relaxing romantic dinner on the deck. Splurge with a local chef or cook/grill on your own! The Main (upper) Master Bedroom flaunts a new King Bed and 90 degrees of unobstructed views through the sliding glass doors to the wrap around deck offering the Caribbean as the backdrop. With the luxury of a walk in closet, separate linen closet and well designed en suite Master Bath; as well as a comfortable recliner to kick back and take in the view, this room is truly the Captain or Queen’s Quarters! Another King Bedroom, opposite the Main Master, features local art and an attached full laundry room. Between the two King rooms a separate Queen Bedroom offers plenty of natural light and local art. If additional sleeping spaces are needed the living room couch is a queen pull out and the loveseat a full size pull out. Sanitized bed and bath linens are provided for every room on both levels of the villa. The lower level has its own driveway and separate entrance. Kick back and relax on the covered deck or in the living room where recliners at each end of both the sofa and loveseat kick back to a full vertical recline with one flip of the lever. The center console of the sofa provides 2 cup holders and USB charging or if returned upright, additional seating. The secondary master provides refuge from the sun and noise in the comfort of the best bed in the house! A king Coaster bed with drawers below and shelves in the headboard create an island of your own. The nightstand has USB charging capability behind the lamp. The wicker moon chair will provide a comfortable resting place when you know climbing in the bed will end the day! Across the hall the Mermaid room features a queen bed, also with USB charging nightstand, and plenty of natural light combined with black out curtains for your mid day siesta should you desire. Speaking of mermaids…local artists provide the beauty of each located throughout both levels of the home. Both the upper and lower decks offer dinner table seating, gas grills and lounging furniture in addition to the 24 hour spectacular views, even the rain is beautiful here! In addition, everything you need for the beach from towels, chairs, large beach umbrellas, snorkel gear and coolers are available for guest use. All windows and doorways have been professionally screened and each bedroom has the appropriate sized A/C unit for maximum comfort if you do ever leave the decks! Being nearly 800 feet above sea level we enjoy a gorgeous breeze on the decks and throughout the home with the sliders open and the fans on. Some evenings you may even find yourself grabbing a blanket or sweatshirt! To help our environment and ensure guest comfort, I had 34 large solar panels and 2 Tesla power walls installed to limit the chance of any power loss to the home and maximize our year round sunshine. During the sunlight hours, we run off solar power and after the sun goes down the home operates off the power walls. In the event of an impending storm we can adjust the power wall to just store the power until it’s needed. Even if it’s depleted, as soon as the sun comes out we’re back in action when most of the island is not. Rental cars/Jeeps are sometimes available by our neighboring hosts, feel free to inquire about availability but remember we drive on the left! A car or jeep is highly recommended to enjoy all St. Thomas has to offer!! A little about our name…The house named herself as a close friend said she would! On my 2nd night in the home I was under the pergola on the upper deck lounging, drink in hand, just listening to the sounds of the island and looking at the stars - literally believing they were close enough that I could pluck them from the sky when I looked straight ahead and saw the Southern Cross for the first time! Knowing sailors for centuries found their way using this navigational beacon in the sky and simultaneously wondering if I was on the right course, I knew she found her name so the Upper level is named after the Crux constellation that aligns in your direct sight line late evening to mid morning most of the year. The Crux is the smallest of the 88 constellations and generally only visible below 25 degrees latitude. Thankfully my home is at 18 degrees; but for me, the Crux is the most meaningful constellation and so the home became THE SOUTHERN CROSS. My husband is the reason the lower level got the name ON THE ROCKS. When I awoke the next afternoon after my husband had spent the last 3 days clearing obnoxiously tall grass and stickers thicker than any forest I had ever seen (down here called catch n keep, God I pray you never learn why!!) but after single handedly battling & trying to clear the thickets, I finally saw the beautiful rock formations. Today, a few years and many man hours later it’s hard to understand; but that day, the lower level chose ON THE ROCKS as her name and I’ve tried to add some color and life to the yard but hope you too will enjoy the beauty of the rocks and the stars!! Bring your family and friends and enjoy all this home has to offer! We truly look forward to having you as our guest!!
