There are many things to like about cottaging on the Bruce Peninsula, just one of which is the easy commute from the GTA, but, it's a big advantage if you prefer driving on smaller country roads, rather than spend hours on a major highway with all the other people headed north. After leaving Hwy 6 in Wiarton, you'll find it challenging to keep your eyes on the road, rather than on the spectacular scenery as Grey Road 1 follows closely to the shoreline. The final stretch from Big Bay is along a private road, with tantalizing views of the water shimmering in the distance. Upon arrival at this Bruce Peninsula cottage rental, you won't be disappointed, as it features a décor of white-washed walls with a nautical theme, giving it a true lake house feel. Originally two smaller cottages, the cottage has been enlarged and renovated to create one much larger cottage by adding on a huge great room overlooking the lake. The two original cottages (White Cloud and Griffith) each form a wing of the new cottage; each comprised of 3 bedrooms and a 4 piece bathroom, making this a great family retreat, with lots of space to gather, while having more distance for sleeping. The spacious new great room spans the entire lake side of the cottage, with a fully equipped kitchen (with dishwasher) at one end, a large dining table (seating 8), and a comfortable seating area with a log-effect propane stove and a smart TV at the other. You don't even need to walk as far as the kitchen to get your snacks and drinks while watching TV - the owners have thought of that and there's a mini kitchen with another full-sized fridge and a drink preparation counter right beside the living room! ,You'll find plenty of indoor entertainment for rainy days, and evenings. There are board games, a retro GameCube console, and arcade game, as well as a smart TV for streaming (with your own accounts.) Stepping outside, where you'll find a deck across the lakeside of the cottage, with a table for outdoor dining, and an expanse of flat, grassy lawn, perfect for playing games on. Badminton and volleyball are included, as well as a sand box and toys for the children. There is a small laneway between the cottage and the beach, but it's just for local cottagers, with no public traffic to worry about. The best thing about having a cottage with northern exposure is you can enjoy both sunrises and sunsets from the beach, and the sunsets are spectacular here! Because of the stony nature of the beach, common to the Bruce Peninsula shore of Georgian Bay (this is, after all, the Stone Skipping Capital of Canada) you can hone your stone skipping skills (away from swimmers and boaters of course)! You will need water shoes, and a selection of those is thoughtfully supplied for those of you who may not already have them. Two kayaks are provided. Set yourself up with a nighttime campfire for s'mores and marshmallows, and you have the perfect way to end your day! Inside the Cottage Sleeps 14 (max 8 adults) - up to 8 adults may be accepted for multi-generational families; please inquire 6 bedrooms (1 king, 3 queen, 2 sets double/single bunks) 2 4-piece bathrooms, each with tub and shower over and double vanity Smart TV and unlimited Wi-Fi Arcade games, Foosball table, Retro GameCube system Log-effect propane stove Dishwasher, washer and dryer and two full-sized fridges, water cooler Outside the Cottage Propane BBQ and outdoor dining table Two kayaks, 2 adult PFDs and 2 toddlers Deck at the lakefront, with firepit (firewood is not provided) Playground, sand pit with toys Things you need to know: One small dog of the non-shedding breeds permitted. Skinner's Bluff Trail Head is just 15 minutes away, and give you an entry point to the Bruce Trail. Or choose from the many other sections of the trail running right through the area, all the way north to Tobermory. Bruce Peninsula National Park and The Grotto. World famous hiking in a rugged landscape, home to orchids, ferns and black bears.
