Nestled in Darien, this lovely house for $160 per night is a great option for your next vacation. Take a breath at Local Bungalow for a short weekend or long stay, and step back in time in the unique character of pristine salt marsh coastline that is Darien. Some would describe as one of the last wild places on earth and others would say the neighborhoods and oak trees tell a great story. The bungalow rests next to a historic square in the second oldest city in Georgia founded by in January 1736 by Scottish Highlanders recruited by General James Oglethorpe. Relax and indulge in the quaintness of the block on two front porch swings with a coffee from local favorites (Coastal Shanty and Y’antsome), a glass of wine from the Waterfront Wine Shop (Complimentary experience with stay), or find some inspiration on the screened in porch with a desk and free wifi. This adorable and inviting home is equipped with full kitchen including, a gas stove perfect for a low country boil. We are neighbors with Fort King George, Sapelo Island, and Georgia Department of Natural Resources sites perfect for learning how the culture has evolved over 287 years. The history is rich and the people are salt of the earth. Head five minutes east one mile under the mossy oaks trees after a day of fishing, kayaking, biking, and exploring the Golden Isles to the Downtown Darien Waterfront. There you will find local artisan shops, a one-of-a-kind hardware store, friendly faces and great local seafood. Have a crab cake, and oysters on the half shell at Skippers for dinner and close the day with some dessert from the Keys Grill. Discover Darien and have fun being a local. Property was well maintained and close to both Savanah and St Simons island. Be aware there is great internet but no cable or dvd player. Since we were out sightseeing and not back to house until after dark it was not a problem.

I cannot say enough about this charming place. The owner’s attention to detail is experienced as soon as you walk in. Extremely clean, super cozy, nice notes for instructions, complimentary wine and bath soaps. The list goes on. We will definitely be staying here again. It felt like home. Also, communication is super personable with quick responses.
