An Authentic Japanese House!
Nantan is a peaceful and charming area. We prefer the quiet countryside over busy cities, and for us, Nantan was the perfect place to stay near Kyoto.
No matter how much I write, it still wouldn’t be enough to describe this wonderful experience. The owner’s family gave us such a warm welcome and took the time to explain the property, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived.
Most of the house has traditional tatami flooring, which is both delicate and a beautiful feature of an authentic Japanese home. The highlight for me was the garden. When I asked the owner about it, they passionately explained the care and history behind every tree and plant. It was inspiring to learn how much dedication, skill, and patience are required to maintain a traditional Japanese garden. Every tree has been carefully shaped by hand, making the garden truly breathtaking.
The living room also features a kotatsu—a traditional heated table with blankets—which made relaxing together as a family a unique and cozy experience.
The property is thoughtfully equipped with everything a family could need. It was a memorable stay, and I would happily recommend it to anyone looking to experience the beauty, warmth, and authenticity of a traditional Japanese home.

The cleanliness was outstanding. We really liked the atmosphere, the garden area gave off traditional vibes. The bedrooms were spacious and the futons were very comfortable.
To do the laundry, there was an additional fee of ¥500 per wash which I found a bit unnecessary.

It had a home away from home feel, comfortable beautiful spacious house for a family with kids. The kitchen was well supplied. The garden was also very satisfying to walk around.
It would be helpful if there was a notice beforehand that you have to pay extra for doing laundry. All the other apartments we stayed at, provided this service for free (included in the price).

Пожалуй, это самый традиционный японский дом, в котором нам удалось побывать за все наши путешествия по Японии.
Хозяева очень приветливые. Аккуратный сад.
Деревушка небольшая и тихая, рядом станция поездов.
К сожалению не могу поставить 10 баллов по ряду причин. С учётом всей своей традиционности дом невероятно холодный и большинство дверных проёмов слишком низкие. Мой рост 182см и я несколько раз сильно ударился головой.
