About this bed and breakfast

The guest house sits tucked back in the woods, down a bumpy driveway, offering privacy and quiet once you arrive. The surrounding area is rural and unpolished - But the property itself is clean, peaceful, and thoughtfully maintained.
We also live on the property and our home is very close to the guesthouse. Please see photo I have included to show how close the homes are to each other.

We offer:
• a full kitchen (no microwave or dishwasher)
• futon for third guest (ideal for a child)
• queen-sized memory foam mattress
• stackable washer/dryer
• a 43” television with a Roku (see more info below) and basic channels.

We are:
12 minutes from downtown Havana.
24 minutes from I-10.
30 minutes from Thomasville, GA.
33 minutes from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
34 minutes from Tallahassee Airport.
35 minutes from FSU.
38 minutes from FAMU.

Please note that the cottage is studio-style. There is no wall separation between bed, living area, and kitchen.

Things to know:
Fun fact: in the 90’s and early 2000’s this guesthouse was an art studio and art classes were held inside. The artist, Darlene, still has a gallery in Havana, called D. Arthur McBride Portrait Studio and Gallery.

There is a Roku available that you can log into with your passwords.

We recommend bringing sturdy shoes to wear and bug spray if you plan to spend time outside.

We are located in a wooded setting and the ground is uneven with lots of tree roots.

**if you or anyone in your party have mobility/stability issues, this will not be a good fit. The ground is very uneven because of the wooded setting (similar to what you would find at a state park) and there are stairs to access the guesthouse.**

The cottage is very close to our home. We take your privacy seriously and allow you to control how much interaction occurs after the key is provided to you. We want you to be comfortable!

House Rules:

Initial check-in is from 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm EST. If you are traveling from the west, please factor in the time change zone. (We cannot accommodate check-ins after 11:00 pm)

House Rules

We want you to relax, enjoy your stay, and feel at home—just with a few commonsense guidelines:

**🚭 No Smoking**
No smoking anywhere on the property. This helps us keep the space fresh and enjoyable for everyone. $500 cleaning fee for smoking.

**🐕 Dogs**
We love dogs! Just make sure they’re leashed at all times while outside.

**📬 Mailbox**
Please do not access our mailbox. If you need something mailed to or from the property, just reach out—we’re happy to help coordinate.

**🏠 Communication**
Please don’t come over to our home unannounced unless it’s an emergency. I’m very responsive through the VRBO app, and you’re always welcome to call or text if needed.

*** 🛏️ About Eating in Bed (Yes, This Needs Its Own Section)

We totally understand a light snack in bed—pretzels? Sure. A few crackers? No problem.

But full meals—especially anything saucy, greasy, or stain-happy (looking at you, BBQ ribs)—are a hard no. We once had an unfortunate “rib incident,” and let’s just say… the sheets and white quilt comforter did not survive.

**Please avoid eating anything in bed that could permanently stain linens**, such as:

* Tomato-based foods
* Greasy or oily dishes
* Sauces of any kind

If stains happen due to ignoring this rule, guests will be responsible for replacing damaged items.

### 👕 A Quick Note on Furniture

Please don’t hang clothing from curtain rods—they’re not built for it and tend to lose that battle. The wardrobe closet is your friend!

### 🧼 If Something Spills…

Accidents happen—we get it! If you notice a stain:

* Just let us know 👍
* Please **do not** strip the bed or start laundry

We prefer to handle cleaning ourselves to avoid setting stains or damaging linens.

### 💡 Why This Matters

We don’t charge a cleaning fee and don’t expect you to deep clean before checkout. We work hard to keep our pricing fair, and avoiding preventable damage (especially stains) helps us keep it that way for future guests.

## Checkout Instructions (10:00 AM)

Before heading out:

* 🍽️ Wash any dishes you used (it’s perfectly fine to leave them on the drying mat)
* 🛏️ Please **do not** strip beds or start laundry
* 📩 Send a quick message via the app or text when you check out so we can get a head start for the next guest

**Thank you for staying with us—we really appreciate it!**

For bookings longer than 7 nights: we provide supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, kcups, laundry detergent, etc. to get you started. If you use all supplies in the house, we ask that you purchase additional items for the remainder of your stay (this is because we deeply discount weekly + monthly stays).

Lindsey is a gracious host. I arrived to a spotless cottage with fresh eggs in the frig and home made muffins on the table. The only sounds I heard all week were the birds chirping, squirrels playing in the trees and a delightful rooster that didn't seem to know he was supposed to crow at sun rise. Sometimes is was mid afternoon. It was a lovely home away from home while my floors were being refinished. I highly recommend it if you enjoy peace and tranquility. And Tallahassee is a short drive away through the beautiful north Florida country side.

OMG! Such a cute property. About 30 minutes from FSU but a very pretty drive. Enjoy your stay. Nicely provided sweet treats in room upon arrival. Will gladly stay here again.
