We absolutely loved our stay in Buxton, N.C! The house and amenities were above and beyond! Mary is an absolute joy! And made our stay so enjoyable! Would come every weekend if it wasn’t so far of a drive for us!

Memorable week with our family in this sprawling beach house! Panoramic ocean views from all the main rooms! Property is attractively furnished and is very clean. We found the kitchen well stocked for cooking, which we did a lot of, as we didn't want to leave. Will be booking again. Thank you, Mary, for making this experience so seamless.

Over the years we have vacationed at many ocean front homes along the outer banks and elsewhere, but never have we been as close to the beach as in this house! The beach is literally right outside the back door. No long walks or dunes to climb. It was great. The house was very clean, well kept, and comfortable. The whole booking/check-in/check-out process was quite easy and communication with the booking agent was great. We had an excellent, relaxing week and highly recommend this house to anyone considering it as their vacation destination.

This is our second vacation at Evans Cottage. Once again, we loved it and had a fantastic week. The house is wonderful. Super clean, and comfortable. The house is positioned so that it sits closer to the ocean than any other house in the row. Because of that positioning, the views are extra spectacular. The location is ideal, with many shops and restaurants close by. Our contact, Mary Styron was super helpful and attentive to any needs or questions. She is just a text or phone call away and responds promptly. Thanks Mary!

This beach front home exceeded our expectations with the amazing views and being so clean when we arrived! Mary was great with communication and letting us know great places to eat and explore. Ocracoke Island was a great day trip that she suggested. The ocean is so close to the primary bedroom so the sleeping was great. Even with the windows closed one can hear the ocean waves.

If you have the opportunity to book this house for your vacation… GRAB IT! You won’t regret it. We had a wonderful vacation at Evans Cottage. Everything about the house is perfect. It’s modern, comfortable, and SUPER clean. Conveniently located, you will have just about everything you could need or want within just a few minutes drive, including excellent restaurants and shopping . And here is something important to remember. The house is positioned further out on the beach than the other houses around it, so you have a much better view of the beautiful beach and ocean than you would in most of the houses on the island. We enjoyed the beach during the day, and sat out on the deck at night gazing at the stars. Host Mary Styron is a friendly and helpful asset to have during your vacation. Beginning with the welcoming phone call before you arrive, Mary knows everything about the house and Hatteras Island and can help you with anything you need. We look forward to booking this house again!

was just as I expected having been to the Outer Banks since age 14 (now 74). The location was new to our friends. They loved it. No pressure from the summer rush. restaurants were great.

The 6 of us were lucky enough to spend 2 weeks at this beach cottage (after spending a week here in the fall). The house is clean, the beds are comfy, the bathrooms are huge, the kitchen is fully stocked, and the views from the decks are amazing! The beach is much larger than it used to be after the recent replenishment project, so there is plenty of room to spread out and you never feel crowded by others. There really is no need to run down at 6am to reserve your beach spot, which you often have to do at other beaches. Plenty of restaurants nearby to eat at, or to get take-out, and Connor's Market is well-stocked and 2 minutes away to get supplies for eating at the house. Mary is always available for questions, or just to chat! We can't wait to go back!

You couldn’t ask for a better beach house to stay in. The house itself is exactly as described however, the pictures do not do it justice. It is larger than expected. The GREATROOM, dining and kitchen are fabulous! Windows in every direction to enjoy the perfect views. We were looking for a quite get-away vacation and found it right here. The beach was in the process of being renurished (building it back up) which brought in a lot of stones and shells. The waves were perfect! The house was just the right size for our family with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, decks on two levels were great-one for full sun, and one with shade made it possible to sit out whenever you wanted. Mary is super responsive and so easy to deal with! We rate our vacation 9 out of 10!

We stayed at the property for a week with our friends, 6 adults. The house was amazing, it was designed in a way that every couple had a private bedroom and a bathroom. Very convenient. The views of the ocean were amazing. The property was very clean. Kitchen fully stocked with utencils, cutting boards, dishes, etc. Food Lion was only 10 min drive. We cooked at home, but there are lots of places to eat around. AC was great, showers worked great, good water pressure. We could tell that the owners put a lot of thought into this house We really enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to come again next summer!

Oh my gosh best rental ever!! Mary was wonderful. She texted us a few times to make sure our trip was going ok and if we needed anything. You will never get that service from rental agencies. Aside from that the house was fully stocked and beautifully decorated. You are right on the beach so you can enjoy watching the ocean from many places in the house. My favorite was the master bedroom. We kept the curtains open so the sunrise would wake us up. This place was just amazing!!!

One cannot get closer to the beach and the ocean! Fantastic location, great house, amazing views. Mary, the property manager was super helpful, connecting with us prior to arrival and throughout the stay to ensure we had everything we needed. Will come again !

The setting of the home was perfect. Very private and quiet. The beach was wide and on a quiet stretch. The home is also set back off the main road just off a half circle. This was an especially nice setting and helped minimize traffic noise as well as eased entrance and exit to the property. Again, Amazing lot and great overall location. However, the home could do with a deep clean. Excessive dust on fan blades, under furniture and most of the dishes had to be rewashed prior to use.. the upstairs 3rd floor hvac is not sufficient. We stayed during November so it was not a big issue but a summer or hot weather stay would be a challenge. The garage was a mess and either needs to be locked off from guests altogether or cleaned out. At arrival, the grill cover from the upstairs deck was blown off and wet from collecting water. Also scattered around the main entrance were old wet entry mats. I took a few minutes to pick up everything but it seems to me that I shouldn’t have to do this? I believe these types of cleaning issues should be covered under the property cleaning fee as well as the pet fee. The grill was a mess. I was able to call property management because I checked in on a week day. They sent out a team immediately to clean some windows as well as the grill. Several of the ocean facing windows had blown seals and completely obstructed the view of the ocean. In my opinion, the bad windows should be replaced. Most of the blown windows are behind drawn curtains or blinds which came across as an attempt to minimize their deterioration. We discovered them only after we opened up the window treatments to enjoy the view. Again, we paid extra for ocean front and we wanted to see and experience the ocean. For us, we were disappointed by the condition of the ocean facing windows. For the price, I felt the home could be more pulled together. We were only 4 adults and 1 child so we did not use the 2 main floor entry level bedrooms. Just FYI these 2 rooms are very dark, get very little natural light and have no view even though they are “ocean facing”. I do want to mention the home has a whole house water filter system which is a very nice plus. Another plus was the washer dryer. They are commercial size and great for washing lots of beach towels.

Property location was perfect.The beds were comfortable and sheets and towels ready for us. Relaxing on the deck was a great way to spend the day if you’re not on the beach. The weather was lovely. Setting these positives aside, we hope that a few issues can be addressed for the sake of future guests. First, the home could benefit from a deep cleaning. Perhaps it was looking a bit worse for wear because we vacationed at the end of the season, but the curtains in all rooms could use a good wash/stain remover, the ceiling fans dusted, and the utensil drawers and garbage receptacle in the kitchen cleaned of crumbs and debris. The kitchen table was also very sticky. During our stay we encountered several cockroaches in the house and can’t help but think they were there due to the crumbs left by previous renters and not subsequently removed by the cleaning staff. We understand that cockroaches can be common in the south but surely the owner doesn’t want to give them an easy invitation to enjoy the house along with the renters. Plus, although we did not cook fish, there was a very strong and offensive fish smell that lingered on the main floor throughout our stay. The air/essential oils diffuser was on full blast to try and mask the smell the best we could. Now we know why the diffuser held a prominent place in the gathering room. This must be an ongoing issue. Also, while the house boasts a beautiful view, chair space on the decks was limited to a few wooden, well-worn Adirondack rockers and a lounge chair. We appreciated them, but us as well as our parents, both in their late 70’s, found them very uncomfortable. Thank goodness we brought our own. Also, the beach chairs provided by the owner were covered in rust and, even with tetanus shots among us, we did not feel safe using them. Salt water is certainly damaging to metal, but the chairs should be regularly replaced as the cost of doing business. Finally, the bathrooms could use brighter lighting and fans to help circulate the air. And, while we understand the logic behind no window screens installed due to hurricanes, we believe it would be very helpful for guests to know up front that you cannot open the windows or sliding doors to let fresh air in as bugs will enter the home. We complied with this requirement, of course, but it was very disappointing. One of the reasons to come to the beach is to feel the breeze in the home. Coffee pot was broken but manager kindly offered to replace it.

Overall, the property provides for an unbeatable beachfront location. Kids were able to play all day in the ocean. Unobstructed views of the nighttime sky with waves crashing in the background.

A beautiful property in an excellent setting. Everything you need is included with the house and the views are incredible. Perfect sunrise pictures from both the living room and the bedrooms. Love waking up with the sound of the waves. Mary is a great host and will take care of all your questions and needs promptly. Great vacation place!

Great oceanfront location, family friendly. Kitchen well equipped for anything you’d want to cook. Buxton is a quiet area without a ton of shopping or fine dining, but fresh seafood shop and Connors Market just minutes away. Wonderful beach walking down past Hatteras National Park. Property manager Mary was fantastic! Would definitely stay here next time we are in OBX

What an amazing house and incomparable location!! This home is literally on the beach in a lovely OBX town away from most of the commercial scene of the more northern areas. The bedrooms are spacious and beds are super comfortable. Three generous full sized bathrooms, a large open plan kitchen/dining area, ample living room and decks galore give even 2 families sharing plenty of space. It is well appointed and even better than the photos portray. We had no issues and cannot wait to return!!

This has been an outstanding experience. One of the top VRBO rentals and the best beach vacation in our history of family vacations. This house is cared for, appointed well and has a stunning location on the ocean (sometimes in the ocean). If a beautiful morning sunrise or stunning full moon over the ocean are part of a great getaway for you, then this is the place for you. Shout out to Mary for the great communication and care.
