Amazing hospitality, My mother was sick by staying in houseboat so we decided to come here and the host family took care of everything from pick up to cooking home food etc

It came as a surprise to me that this property is run by a local Kashmiri family, and might I say, it was a very lovely surprise. The energy here is homely, comfortable, and rather light. Location wise it is a little tucked in, but that made it perfect for a quiet stay, while being super close to Dal & other prominent locations around.
I am a sucker for amenities, and i think a few more can be better provided for people in the dorm. The private stays are absolutely beautiful.

The family is willing to cook meals for you as per your taste, though we did find some items a little overpriced considering they were so basic. You get to experience a simple Kashmiri home and interact with the family members who are quite warm.
The location, although geographically not far from Dal Lake, involves a lot of turns through narrow lanes and this makes the commute quite a hassle. Even if you choose to walk, it's a constant upward gradient. The room is rather stuffy and the windows basically open into the walls of the neighbouring houses. The power situation is not great and though they have an inverter, the fan did not run in our room on one of the nights because of power failure. Even the plug points next to the bed don't run on the inverter. I also found it unreasonable that they charged us double for the mineral water bottles even though the stay is a very simple one in the heart of Srinagar. In fact we were charged MRP for packaged mineral water at the relatively high end Kashmir Trout restaurant in Srinagar whereas Moustache charged us double for the same bottle. But they do have a water purifier where you can refill your bottles. In terms of the general vibe of the place, the approach road and the facilities in the room, they are surely overpriced.
