We loved our stay in Yen Hidden Valley. We stayed in a bungalow- I had seen other reviews mention it felt too small but it was perfect for a couple travelling with backpacks. The room was clean and well presented- really nice bathroom. The location was absolutely stunning and we didn't mind the short travel into town. We rented a bike from the property and they were kind enough to let us continue our bike rental and store our bags after our check-out. It was great to have breakfast available at the property, there was also the option for dinner and snacks throughout the day.
Not at all a problem but just for information if you are travelling to Cat Ba and staying here your bus will not be able to go straight to the property- there is an option to be collected from the bottom of the road and the hosts are very helpful with communicating with you about this.

Beautiful family run boutique hotel in the hills of Cat Ba, surrounded by lovely nature. Service was fantastic with staff able to help with any request similar to what you'd expect in a proper 5 star hotel chain. The pool was an absolute highlight, really relaxing and always lots of space without loads of people around due to the small nature of the hotel! Rooms cleaned every day to a high standard plus had all the amenities you could possibly need.
Payment on checkout had a 3% foreign currency fee for card transactions. Wasn't warned about this in advance & would have been nice if this was absorbed by the hotel given the upmarket nature of it.

YEN Hidden Valley is like a small piece of paradise. The views over the valley are amazing, especially with the recent flooding creating a beautiful lake, and the location is peaceful and far from the town. The staff were wonderful, especially Chip, and we really enjoyed the breakfast and dinners at the restaurant.
The rooms are a bit small, but we already knew this when booking, so it wasn't a surprise. The location is quite remote, and it takes about 25 minutes by car to reach the town and the pier for Lan Ha Bay, but for us the peaceful surroundings were worth it.
