Welcome to The Stella, a thoughtful 1920's home set in the heart of Bellport Village. This is the place for a summer romance, a family gathering, or a creative recentering. Inspired by the subtle palette and refined geometry of the American artist Frank Stella—who often spent time on Long Island—The Stella enjoys close proximity to many beaches and wetlands. Bellport is an easy 1.5 hours drive from Manhattan. The Stella is close to the train station and town — just a few minutes walk from Bellport shops and restaurants — and different beaches, including the well-known Ho Hum Beach, Mother's Beach, Shirley Beach, Smith Point Beach, and stunning Bellport Wetlands. Nestled on the coast of Suffolk County, the tiny village boasts a population of around 2,000. The village is named after its early settlers, the Bell family, and is home to a gorgeous array of antique shops and artist galleries, as well as local produce and foodie destinations. Bellport, as it now stands, was originally a part of neighboring Brookhaven. It was purchased from the Unkechaug Indians in 1664 by settlers, who were drawn to the region’s bountiful salt hay harvests. Bellport was originally named “Occumbomock Neck”. The name “Bell-Port”came about as Bellport was very close to the Old Inlet — a breach in the barrier island of Fire Island — which gave Bellport easy access to the open ocean. Now, the beautiful Ho Hum Beach is reachable via ferry, and the village has gentrified whilst retaining its historic character. ***For summer monthly bookings, August 2024 is still available***
