About this cottage rental

Pinecrest on the Lake is a bright chalet that's fully equipped for a wonderful cottage experience in every season. Enjoy happy hour on the dock, paddle your worries away, cozy up by the woodstove, ice fish until you can't feel your toes, take a fall hike. The town of Haliburton is a 7-min drive or 15-min boat ride away and has a variety of great shops, restaurants, trails, and more. It's the perfect balance between seclusion and accessibility. This beautiful lakefront chalet nestled into the hillside is located minutes away from the lovely village of Haliburton. As you step into this cozy home away from home, you'll be greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The spacious living area features large windows that flood the space with natural light and provide stunning views of the surrounding forest and sparkling lake. Pinecrest on the Lake consists of two separate units in one cottage: the upper main unit called Summit, and the lower second unit Base Camp. Groups of families and friends alike love the extra kitchen space, bathroom, living area, and privacy that this set up has to offer. Summit has: - 3 bedrooms (1 is a loft) - 2 bathrooms - 1 full kitchen - 1 living room with a 72" smart TV and woodstove - 1 dining room with a table that seats 9 - 1 screened in room (3 season) - a BBQ deck with lake views Base Camp has: - 2 bedrooms - 1 bathroom - 1 small kitchen with a dining set that seats 2-4 - 1 living room with a DVD player and woodstove - a balcony with lake views The outdoor space is where this cottage truly shines. Step outside onto the deck, lounge in the sun, sip your morning coffee, fire up the BBQ for a delightful cookout, and enjoy your meal in the wonderful screened-in dining area while being serenaded by loons. Take a leisurely stroll down to the private dock, where you can swim in the pristine waters, go fishing, or simply bask in the beauty of nature. North West exposure provides all day sun & stunning sunsets. You will have access to a canoe, two kayaks, and a stand up paddle board, paddles and life jackets. Lake Kashagawigamog is a part of the 38-km Five Lake Chain, connected to Grass Lake, Head Lake, Soyers Lake, and Canning Lake. In the summer you can boat for miles and miles. In the winter, you can go ice fishing, dog sledding, skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling. Your perfect retreat at Pinecrest on the Lake is waiting! We look forward to hosting you, and we know you'll love it as much as we do. When You Arrive Parking You can park in the car port (you’ll see it when you turn in the driveway), or anywhere on the driveway. If it’s likely to snow, we recommend parking at the top of the hill! The driveway can fit 5 cars. Baseboard heaters: There are thermostats in some rooms to adjust the baseboard heaters, otherwise there are dials directly on the heater. Wood stove: Firewood and kindling are available for you to use. The little slider on the ashtray door controls the burn; sliding left will give the fire more oxygen, right will slow the burn down. We slide it all the way to the right when we go to bed. You may need to empty the ashtray and/or sweep out the stove if it gets full. Use the fire gloves when opening the door as it gets very hot! Activities There are 2 kayaks, 1 canoe, and 1 SUP available for you to use. The paddles, boat safety kit, and life jackets are in the shed by the house. When you go paddling, you need to have enough life jackets for the number of people and a boat safety kit with you. The fire pit on the landing on your way down to the dock is available for your enjoyment! Please ensure you burn according to the local fire burn restrictions. Indoor games: There are cards and a wide variety of board games in the hutch in the dining room. We want you to have the best time on the best dock! It's important to remember how the noise carries on the water, so just don't be too loud too late 🙂 Also the waves/wind are good at removing unattended items from the dock, so make sure to take everything with you at the end of the day and stack the chairs. Explore. There is plenty to do in the Haliburton Highlands! The village of Haliburton is only a 7-minute drive away. Check out the local guidebook to see our food, activity, and attraction recommendations! Health and Safety The first aid kit is in the pantry in the kitchen. Be fire smart! In the case of an emergency, there is a fire extinguisher above the range hood. The tap water is drinkable! We’re on a well and test our water annually. Please use caution on the steps when it’s dark, raining, or icy. In the event that you need it, the nearest hospital emergency room is a 4-minute drive away at Haliburton Highlands Health Services.
