Beautiful spot in old town if you don’t mind stairs

Ruined romantic holidays

Title: Ruined Vacation, Complete Lack of Professionalism, and No Basic Hospitality We stayed in Dubrovnik for 3 nights (August 6–9), having paid the full amount in advance. The property currently holds a very high rating on Booking.com (9.2), which, based on our experience, is completely undeserved. Our vacation and relaxation were entirely ruined. First Night (City Center Apartment): Immediately upon arrival, we were greeted by an overwhelming smell of mold and dampness that made it impossible to sleep. The host’s response was to offer an air freshener the next day, claiming she had "never heard about this issue before." Mold and dampness do not develop overnight, so the host was clearly not being honest. Second Night (Relocation): The host offered to move us to another apartment herself. While larger, it was located a 45-minute walk from the city center. When we turned off the AC at night, the unit started making loud, bizarre buzzing noises. We spent the entire night without sleep—not only because of the noise, but out of fear that dangerous liquid might be leaking from the unit. To make matters worse, several bugs appeared on the floor. A second night spent in extreme stress. Lack of Basic Amenities & Host’s Attitude: In both apartments, there wasn't even a basic bottle of drinking water provided upon arrival—the bare minimum of hospitality in the summer heat. When we explained everything the next morning, hoping for help and empathy, the host completely ignored the real issues. Her proposed "solution" was to shut off the AC and warm water entirely! She dismissed the bugs as "harmless," acted as if we were "overreacting," and outright claimed we had no right to any financial compensation or claims. There was no "I'm sorry," no empathy, and zero accountability—just excuses that she had "upgraded" us to a bigger space. The Turning Point: We refused to stay for the third night and left.

Excellent location, great host. Good value for price.

The location is perfect, especially if you come with big luggage, you don't have to walk all the city stairs. The cleanliness is exceptional. The host is simply the best - she left a detailed description on how to arrive at the spot, where to go, and what to do.

Nothing to mention. It wasn't bothering me, just next time when I stay here I will choose another room. This room is located on the ground floor, and the window is small, resulting in a limited view and minimal natural light.
