Accomodation was very affordable, great location for restaurants and swimming spots, the staff were helpful. The hotel does not have a pool but you have access to the pool of nearby hotels. Room layout was a little different with a top level that didn’t provide much use. We did enjoy the tatami sleeping. A few things that would really improve the accommodation: fly screens for the balcony. It was such a shame that we couldn’t have the doors open, especially when the climate outside was so pleasant. It would have been nice to hear the ocean at night, instead we had the doors shut and the aircon on. And bigger cups!! The hotel was not able to provide bigger cups for us, and the ones in the room wouldn’t have held more than 150ml.

The hotel staff were exceptionally kind and welcoming, which made my stay truly pleasant. Even before my arrival, they sent me a warm welcome message via email, and despite my sending several inquiries regarding my stay, they always responded with kindness and never once showed any sign of inconvenience.
This positive impression continued throughout my stay. I believe it's rare to find people as courteous and respectful as the Japanese staff working at this hotel, anywhere else in the world. It was truly the best accommodation experience I've ever had.

Staying here was like staying in a college dorm room that has an efficient kitchen to cook a little in and million dollar balcony view. If you aren’t too picky about room features and overall wear and tear, it would be hard to beat the value here.

Shigira resort is set along the coastline and there is a free shuttle to and from the airport and between different hotels and restaurants within the resort.
A car is needed to explore other parts of Miyako as public transport is non existent but there are beaches and a golf course within the resort.
Organised tours offer pick up from the hotel.
