The apartment: clean and spacious with all necessary endowment, large living to stay together
The surroundings: the apartment is in a cozy neighborhood, quiet and peaceful, with all necessary at short distance - stores (including 24/7), restaurants (to eat or cater), cafes, museum
The host: very hospitable, she gave us tips on several malls and supermarkets in the area and arranged for us activities at good prices (The Great Wall trip, The Forbidden City guided tour, tickets at Chinese opera)
Beijing is a huge city and, despite the metro, distances are long and we spent a lot going to and back from attractions, which is different from Europe, where you have almost everything in a place. But this helped us burn the calories put on with the excellent Chinese food that is everywhere, to sit and eat or take "da bao" (packed to be eaten in).

The location of the apartment is exceptional. Everything you need is nearby: lots of convenience stores and great places to get cheap, delicious food. Susan was an excellent host who attended to our every need.
The bathroom is not renovated as well as the rest of the room. It's old and rusty. The toilet clogs sometimes and the water from the shower room leaks outside the stall. There was a musty/unpleasant smell coming from the mattress (not noticeable unless you lay on it). The fridge also smelled.

It was nice apartment but the outside aisle needs to be cleaned. The bed needs better and softer mattress. Otherwise things were nice generally. Overall great and the host was helpful and friendly.
