Reasons to book
About this cabin rental
Enjoy modern comforts inside, cook beneath the trees, explore wooded trails, and unwind beside the fire. Dogs are welcome—and they always stay free. 🐾
THE SPACE
Every curve, window, branch, and piece of wood gives the Hobbit’s Nest its one-of-a-kind character. Inside the cozy treehouse, you’ll find:
• One queen-size bed
• Two air mattresses stored under the bed, with bedding provided
• Air conditioning and heat
• A mini refrigerator with ice trays
• A microwave
• A Keurig with coffee provided
• Linens, towels, and biodegradable toiletries
• Board games
The treehouse is most spacious for two guests but can accommodate up to four using the air mattresses. When arranged for four, expect a cozy, glamping-style sleeping setup.
BATHROOM
A private half bath is located upstairs just off the porch, so you won’t need to go downstairs during the night. It includes a clean composting toilet and a sink.
The private open-air shower is located below the treehouse and has hot and cold water. Towels and biodegradable toiletries are provided.
OUTDOOR LIVING
The private porch overlooks the surrounding forest and a small pond filled with lily pads and visited by frogs, birds, and other wildlife.
Outside the treehouse, you’ll also have:
• A propane grill
• Pots, pans, utensils, and dishes for four
• An outdoor sink and dishwashing area
• Outdoor dining and seating
• A fire pit with firewood
The mini fridge is best for essentials, so we recommend bringing a cooler with ice if you plan to store additional food or drinks.
DOGS STAY FREE 🐕
Dogs are welcome at the Hobbit’s Nest with no additional pet fee. The property offers plenty of trails, trees, and interesting smells to explore, but the area around the treehouse is not fully fenced. Please supervise dogs whenever they are outside.
EXPLORE THE LOST PINES
Guests are welcome to explore the trails throughout our 42-acre wooded property. Spend the morning watching wildlife, enjoy a quiet afternoon beside the pond, or end the day stargazing beneath the trees.
Nearby attractions include:
• Approximately 15 minutes to downtown Bastrop
• Approximately 8 miles to Bastrop State Park
• Approximately 10 miles to the Colorado River and kayak rentals
• Approximately 6 miles to Sherwood Forest Faire
• An easy drive to Round Top and its antique shows
GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE BOOKING
The Hobbit’s Nest is a nature-based, semi-off-grid treehouse rather than a traditional house.
• The private half bath is upstairs off the porch
• The open-air shower and cooking area are below the treehouse
• There is no Wi-Fi or TV—this is an intentional place to unplug
• Cooking is done using the outdoor propane grill and the microwave inside
• You may encounter insects, frogs, wildlife, and ordinary rural sounds
• The property is shared with three other vacation rentals and several family residences, but no other homes are visible from the treehouse
• Fire-pit use depends on local burn restrictions
Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary, surprising someone with a special getaway, or simply escaping into nature, the Hobbit’s Nest offers an experience you’ll remember long after you leave.
