About this house rental
Small and tidy dog-friendly cottage on the canal:
For those of you who are looking for a place where all the furniture is new and everything matches, this is not it. Instead, we have a boat dock, 3 kayaks, and an outdoor shower and grill. A public boat launch is just around the corner (Please contact me if you wish to launch a boat. I will have to get a permit for you.). We also have a deck for outdoor dining, gathering with friends, reading a book, watching the birds fly by, or fishing and/or just watching the fish. Our house has a renovated kitchen and bath upstairs, along with 2 bedrooms: one queen and one double. There is another bath downstairs (connected to the upstairs with an outdoor staircase), with the laundry and an extra bed (twin). The downstairs room was a golf cart garage but is now a multi-functional room. Both the laundry and twin bed are elevated due to water fluctuations in the canal, so a step stool is available! But guess what?! You are right on the water, and that is lovely! AND, more to the point, a short drive of 1 mile gets you to the the beach (Gulf of Mexico) and all the sand, shells (maybe) and saltwater you would like!

Learn about aviation at the Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston, or about locomotion at the Galveston Island Railroad Museum, which has some of the largest restored exhibits in the US. Be sure to stop at the Pleasure Pier for carnival games, or check out The Strand Historic District's shops and restaurants.
Visit Moody Gardens, a nearby amusement park with educational exhibits and varied attractions, to see an IMAX movie or watch the fish in the aquarium. For an authentic ride, take an hour-long cruise on the replica Colonel Paddlewheel Boat. There's even a golf course where you can book tee times!

Wonderful Canal-Front 2 story home with a huge deck overlooking the water. Very clean home, lots of windows with blinds, a large kitchen stocked with hardware. The beautiful deck has plenty of seating and a dining table, lighted stairs - very relaxing. Claire and Chris take pride in their home and are always looking for ways to improve it, not that it needs much improvement! Claire is quick to respond to any questions and is very helpful. There is a well-managed and clean community pool and park just 2 blocks away. The beach is just across 3005 with easy vehicle access. Claire has Kayaks you can drop in the water, and downstairs is a clawfoot tub in the spare bedroom.Stephanie and I will definitely be back next year. We have stayed at beach rentals many times, and this is now top of list for us.

We had a great stay at this home! The listing photos should be updated though because they have upgraded the patio and living room seating. The location was great and easy to access, and the host provided easy to follow instructions. Light switches were labeled which was so helpful for enjoying the nice patio and other spaces, & not walking around confused on how to turn things on. The kitchen was chock full of dishware and silverware/bakeware available to use in labeled cabinets, which was great for when we didn’t go out to eat. We also played some of the board games provided. This is a great space to spend time with family. Even though it rained a bit the patio was covered and still enjoyable. We didn’t use the kayaks at all but it was nice that those were provided. We would definitely recommend this home to friends visiting Galveston!
