The Neighborhood:
The wildlife is abundant and breathtaking. The resort is the home of a Great White Egret rookery, where you will see hundreds of these graceful birds settle in for the night. A nest of American Bald Eagles can be found behind the inn, and now and then vigilant visitors can actually catch sight of a Loggerhead Turtle coming ashore to lay hundreds of eggs in the soft sand.
1) Daufuskie Rental Group makes a good faith effort to describe island amenities, including restaurants and pools. However, please note that we are not responsible for the availability of amenities that we do not operate and that are beyond our control. Please contact the vendors directly for rates, days and hours of operation.
2) Your rental agreement contract's cancellation policy states that we are not responsible for events that are beyond our control, such as hurricanes. We strongly encourage our guests to purchase travel insurance, and especially recommend "cancel for any reason" policies. (These must be purchased shortly after your reservation is made.)
3) Please note that because the Melrose Resort is in transition, our Melrose guests may notice a certain level of deterioration in the resort-owned buildings but will also see that renovation efforts are now underway. Our vacation cottages are in well-maintained areas and continue to be extremely popular.

- DRG representatives will help provide contacts for booking your passenger-only ferry or water taxi to Daufuskie, ground transportation from Daufuskie dock to your property, and renting a golf cart to get around the island. We wanted a beach vacation that allowed us to see kids home from college and meet a new girlfriend for the first time. This home was one of the most beautiful rentals we have stayed in at any beach, cozy and chill. The layout with the screened in porches, oversized swing and enough TVs to allow people to spread out. Having beach equipment made it even better.

We were blown away by this property. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you need to prepare your family meals. We loved the two porches and spent lots of time in the swinging bed. The pictures do not do this place justice. The bathrooms were great and the beds were all comfy. This is our third trip to the island and we plan on staying at the Pelican’s Perch again in the future.

The property was very nice and clean. We loved the back porch especially and having the golf cart to ride around on the island. I would like to mention that the living room fan wall switch should be labeled similar to the other wall switches. Also, the tv remotes were a little confusing as to which one to use for tv vs. cable box, specifically in the master bedroom. But overall we had an awesome time and plan to come back as soon as possible!
