About this house rental
A distinctive Marfa studio for one or a couple, with 13-foot ceilings, artful glass, rolling doors, a full kitchen and fireplace. Enjoy covered seating and a garden setting on the Hill House property.
THE SPACE
Large rolling doors open the studio to the outdoors when the weather allows. Distinctive windows combine textured, colored and clearer glass, bringing in light while obscuring some direct sightlines. The Canteen sits lower on the property and does not offer the Hill House's downtown panorama.
The queen sleeper sofa is best suited to one guest or a couple sharing. Guests taller than six feet may find its sleeping length less comfortable. Quality bedding is provided.
The full kitchen includes a gas cooktop, oven, dishes, cooking utensils and coffee maker. The studio has a fireplace, separate heating and air conditioning, and reliable Wi-Fi. There is no washer or dryer for Canteen guests.
BATHROOM AND OUTDOOR SHOWER
The enclosed toilet-and-sink room has its own entrance directly outside the main studio door. The screened outdoor shower is a short walk around the side of the building and has hot and cold water. It is the only shower.
IMPORTANT FOR COLD-WEATHER STAYS: Do not use the shower below 40°F (about 4°C). You may need to wait for warmer daytime temperatures. After every use, open the center red drain valve between the hot and cold controls to empty the pipes; close it before your next shower. Draining after every use is essential to prevent freeze damage.
PRIVATE AND SHARED SPACES
You have exclusive use of the Canteen studio, its toilet-and-sink room and outdoor shower. Hill House is a separate rental on the property and may host other guests during your stay. Only the large yard and its seating and grilling area are shared.
Both rentals can be booked together, subject to availability, for exclusive use of the property. Please inquire about availability for both spaces before booking.

If you are going to Marfa and want the real full art experience, this is where you want to stay! This property was absolutely amazing and it was decorated with incredible artwork. The property was huge and sitting outside and having wine in the evening and looking at the stars was incredible. It was a perfectly comfortable stay for my husband and I. It was a little chilly in the evening and the heater worked fabulously. We were within walking distance of the entire town. We already referred this property as several of our friends.When we come back to Marfa we plan to stay here again.

Fantastic host and beautiful, quirky home. I want to start by saying Robert’s attentiveness and prompt response to help clarify heating instructions or anything was super! The reviews made me feel initially that the bathroom was far, but it’s literally next to the front entrance with its own door . There are small heaters everywhere so you shouldn’t ever be cold. We live in NYC via Texas and barely needed the heater . The home is beautiful and we wish we could have stayed longer. The shower is wonderful. We will stay here again next time. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

This staycation house is an artsy, quirky, wonderful little oasis tucked away in Marfa. It is quiet, and feels secluded, although is easily walkable into town for all your art galleries, shops, eateries, coffee, etc.
The grounds of the property are beautiful, with multiple areas for relaxing, grilling, reading, and includes a patio area with a fire-pit.
The house includes a great little kitchen with small fridge, gas stove/oven, cutting/prepping areas, coffee/espresso maker, and a large custom sink. Plenty of flatware, silverware, utensils, cups/glasses.
We went to the grocery store in town (Lowes and Get Go) and did lots of cooking at the house.
The bathroom, while fantastic, is separate from the house- so you have to walk out the door and immediately enter into the bathroom. Nonetheless, everything is delightfully artistic, with custom touches everywhere.
Great outdoor shower, which has plenty of privacy and coverage from view.
We met the owner, Robert, who is amazing! He is friendly and kind.
We would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend this place for anyone new or familiar to Marfa.
Great romantic getaway place, and/or a quiet oasis for those who need a little getaway.
