The best!!!

The accommodation was so clean and tidy, our host Linh and his family were so friendly and helpful and looked after us so well. The location was great and close to alot if things. Linh helped us to book tours and transport. We can't wait to come back and stay here again

Good

Great location. Our room had a beautiful mountain view. Great AC and wifi. Allowed us to check out late to catch the night bus for a small fee. Beautiful family running the hotel, we are so happy to be able to support their business. Breakfast was simple but tasty.

The hotel facilities have seen better days, but for us everything was minor and was fine for the price we paid. The water in the shower gets warm at best, but with a heatwave that was no issue for us. The sink leaked at the bottom but still worked. One of the power outlets was broken, but others worked fine. If you can overlook these small things we would still recommend staying at thuong hai and supporting this young family business.

Exceptional

Perfect location right in the centre of the village lots of restaurants near by. The man at reception was absolutely lovely. Really really helpful during our stay. Helped us book tours and onward travel. The room was lovely, big and clean the bed was super comfy also!! One of my favourite stays on our trip so far!!

Exceptional

Value for money. We had booked this place for a day so that we could freshen up before our visit to the Phong Nha Caves. The staff was very polite and accommodating. We arrived at 6 in the morning and there was someone waiting to check us in. They also made arrangements for our transfer to the train station, caves during the day. They also made us some veg sandwiches for breakfast as none of us ate meat/eggs Found the staff very helpful and will definitely recommend the place. The rooms were clean with all the basic amenities required.

The room itself was lovely, clean and tidy. The hotel was quiet. Not many people around. Good trips locally to go and see Paradise Cave and Phong Nha cave

Unfortunately due to Covid this hotel has needed to close down their rooftop bar and restaurant. No fault of the hotels, but covid has really hit this once thriving town. Unfortunately there is nothing in this town. Its a little bit of a ghost town and sad to see so many hostels, hotels, homestays etc all closed down. The hotel was a little eery at night due to it being so big and only two other guests.

Lack of cleanliness, no hot water and unpleasant experience

Staff was very nice and helpful. Hotel is located in the city center, so you can reach everything very easily.

There were quite a lot of areas for improvement during our stay. Part of ceiling were with mold due to running water, room itself was quite dirty (dust on floor, big stains on sheets, dirty windows), malfunction in toilet flushing, not enough hot water even for 1 person to take a quick shower, nobody has changed our towels during 2 nights stay, while humidity in the room was quite high and none of the towels could dry themselves. Would not recommend to choose this hotel.

I recommend

Excellent, spacious room, as you can see in the pictures. Unfortunately, there is no picture of the view from the balcony, facing the mountains: magnificent. There is an elevator. Almost everything essential: the departure point for the boats to the Phong Nha cave (you don't need an organized tour here, you buy the ticket and that's it, they will take you there), shops and two excellent restaurants, just opposite: in Bamboo they serve both Western and Vietnamese food, these are a little it's being modified, but it's excellent, on the other hand, I recommend trying the beef Pho (soup) made in the local style at the local restaurant to the left of it. Its seasoning is special. The only problem with Phong Nha is if you come to Dong Hoi by train or bus: the taxi drivers are real mountain robbers. Try to choose a bus that takes you directly to Phong Nha.

Descent 2-Star Hotel centred in the middle of the main Phong Nha street.

Great location. Descent 2 star hotel.

The ability of insects getting into your room but the balcony door. Had to block it off to reduce them.

Gem in the heart of the caves

Wonderful hotel. Highly recommended. Friendly staff, clean room, great location. The best part is the view, breathtaking never gets old. I was on the 6 floor, it was beautiful. Another plus is the restaurant and Bar Momma D’s on the roof. Chill welcoming vibes with yummy tasty food. If it wasn’t for the caves I wouldn’t leave the hotel ;) Would come again for sure.

Great hotel

Excellent choice to stay when traveling in Phong Nha. I had a large room with balcony and a superb view for such a good price. Also breakfast included. On the rooftop you can find "Momma D" - a bar with great atmosphere. She is a wonderful host and the staff were friendly and nice.

Great breakfast, great value for the price, great rooftop, Denise was A+++

They let us check in at 4am when our overnight bus from Hanoi arrived, the breakfast was really great to have especially since there isn't that many options in the area, the hot water was hot, wifi was decent and the hotel manager, Denise was excellent and super helpful at giving advice for great things to do around the area. She really made a huge difference for recommending things to do on the one day we had free. We ended up renting motorbikes down the road for 100K each and hit all the places she told us about.

Money exchange rate is not great but that is to be expected. The massage place that is recommended next door is mediocre and avoid getting your nails done there, they absolutely butcher it, Magic Hands was a bit of a walk away but the best massages we have had our entire Vietnam trip.
