About this cottage rental

Unwind in Patagonia at this lovely cottage. Great birding, hiking and biking opportunities. This cozy retreat features 1 bedroom with a comfortable queen bed, a charming living room with 2 sofas that can be used as beds, heating, and AC. Nestled in a private, serene setting, guests can relax and enjoy the fantastic surroundings. Whether you're looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway or a romantic escape, this beautiful property is the perfect choice for your next vacation. We look forward to seeing you in Patagonia.
Details: Built in the shape of an 8-pointed star, this adobe casita is not only an architectural gem but is also cozy and just the right size for 2 people to stay comfortably for a long weekend or an entire year, while getting to know the magical village of Patagonia, the center of which is less than a mile’s walk away. The bedroom has a comfy queen bed, a corner cupboard and large book shelf. And the wall colors pay homage to Claude Monet’s choice for each room in his home to be painted a different color. In the living room are 2 desks, perfect for whether you are seeking a writer’s sanctuary or need to keep in touch with colleagues via the free Starlink wifi. All the rooms connect in a circle, and a brightly painted wooden screen provides privacy for the bedroom which gives access to the screened-in porch. Tree trunks at two points of the star mark the beginning of the living room and open-concept kitchen. The living room has 2 desks, 2 large sofas (perfect for lounging), and a stone, wood-burning fireplace. The 16 clerestory windows can be opened with an electronic control, and they automatically close if it rains. In the dining area is a hand-painted wooden table. Continuing into the kitchen, where you’ll see the one-of-a-kind Mexican tile backsplash, you’ll find it fully equipped (even a rolling pin) for your inner chef to enjoy. You will appreciate the full-size stove, double sink, and nice sized pantry. From the kitchen, enter the “sky bathroom” with sun, moon, and star décor (including the unique tile design in the shower). Continuing to circle through the casita, you will pass through a pocket door into the laundry room with washer and dryer and large walk-in closet (laundry detergent and clothes hangers included). Go through the next door, and you’re back in the bedroom.
Visitors often comment about how quiet and peaceful it is at the Star House, but if you’re lucky you may hear the call of distant coyotes in the evening. On a clear night, the stars are spectacular due to Patagonia’s “dark sky,” and the sunrises and sunsets are always beautiful.

A unique, interesting, house. Quiet location, well stocked full kitchen, excellent amenities in general. Very interesting, nice hosts. It has its rustic, hippy side (which we love) but probably not ideal for people looking for a flawless, super refined stay. We loved the place.

We really enjoyed our too-brief stay - would haves liked to have stayed longer. (Hopefully that can be the next time.)Given the rural setting and the phone and car GPS uncertainties in the area, we really appreciated the manager’s offer to meet us on a main road and guide us in. Very thoughtful. The full-size fridge and fully-supplied kitchen were definite bonuses too.All that, plus an utterly unique casa. Maybe next time we can hear about the back-story of its design and creation.

This is a wonderfully unique home with character and surprise in every nook and cranny. The high desert light creates a changing landscape inside and out and the screened porch is perfect for an al fresco breakfast. The eclectic kitchen accessories were sufficient for our cooking needs and perfectly matched the house vibe. A great location for exploring the back roads of the nearby hills and mountains.

The house is stocked well to cook at home away from home. Quiet and serene. Wifi worked great for the days I had to work!
